Mkay…I’ve done a lot of thinking and crying. I’m trying to understand my emotions and why i’m feeling them. More importantly I’m trying to figure out WHAT to do.
I know crying won’t help. I know posting “End of Times” pics will make people more scared and angry. And they are JUST as terrified(if not more so) as I am. I spent most of my morning trying to keep a panic attack down.
I’m so scared.
I’m Furious!
Lashing out is so instinctual it drives out very being. More often than not it causes more pain to us and those around us.
We need to be better. We need to evolve and mature. Acting in emotion alone is what we did as children, when we didn’t’ know better. We need to TRY to stay strong and kind regardless of the world. That doesn’t mean submit! It means tro try to see how we can do better.
I personally hate it!!!!
I don’t want to be mature right now!
A cruel, angry, hateful person running our country now. I want to break down and scream that such a person is allowed to sit in office. WHY THE FUCK SHOULDN’T I BE ANGRY OR SCARED?!
As…I look at my friends and thousands of followers online…It makes me worried how fragile we can be. But…what I do LOVE about humans is our ability to evolve, to adapt and improve.
As I’m typing this with shaking hands an a a speeding heartbeat, I’m scared for what will happen to our country. Though I know with logic that killing myself or starting riots will not help anyone, but might set us back. I need to try to be better.
WE need to be better.
We need to show that We are not like that. That We want to evolve and show That TRUMP IS WONG! That WE ARE GOOD PEOPLE !
I’m sure I’ll be disgusted with everything he says, but I can’t let that slow me down from being kind., from trying to help, from trying to help other’s be strong.
But I’m just a one Gender-Fluid, Pansexual, Feminist, with nothing but a computer and a few decent drawings.
We can’t do this alone. Don’t be alone. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Together We can show Trump that there’s something more powerful than his hate!
“I am made of Love. And it’s Stronger than you.” ~Garnet~
No, I mean it, go die in a pit of cobras you worthless filth. Unfollow me.
If you voted 3rd party you’re not any better than a Trump supporter, because you’re so dense of motherfuckers that you don’t realize how the electoral college works, or really has nothing to lose. You are as much at fault as they are. All of you too, fuck off and unfollow me.
Oh look, junk mail notification Emails on my post. Righto, you brought this salt onto yourselves. I’m even salty enough to format this on mobile, no need to thank me.
Actually if you did vote for Gary Johnson, you took away votes for Trump. So blaming a person who voted for a third party like that is a bit harsh. Whatever happened to accepting other people’s ideas and beliefs?
No, most of Trump’s voter base was already pretty much decided. Bigot? Racist? Sexist? Crotchety old fuck? States that are so red that there’s no chance of a democrat winning in them? If you even had an idea of this country’s demographics you would be aware that there’s plenty of these people that would have voted Trump (or at the very least, against any progressive left candidate) already. The left-leaning and moderate rights in battleground states were what was up in the air. Those votes (and non-votes) took away from Hillary. By actively voting against Hillary you literally cannot say shit about respecting other people’s beliefs, you have absolutely no right to at all. Because of your actions, the lives of millions of people that don’t fit the “straight white christian male” meta are now in jeopardy.
I voted for Jill Stein and there is nothing wrong with that. If anything, America let me down for not giving third parties more votes. I was hoping for 5%
Congrats on being part of the problem. 5% STILL would have done nothing, because you clearly don’t understand that the electoral college is an all or nothing win. Individual and majority vote mean little to nothing. You clearly don’t understand that in this current system there’s absolutely no way for a 3rd party to win unless there’s some kind of MASSIVE upset (which as far as I’m aware hasn’t ever happened). For that matter, 3rd party could have been 20% and the outcome would have been the same.
I voted for Gary Johnson because the Libertarians best represent the road I’d like to see this country take, and I don’t really see the harm in that. In fact, that’s how it should be, we’re supposed to vote for what we believe is best for the country. And, yes, we’re all shocked that Donald Trump won, but telling people to kill themselves because they have different opinions/beliefs than you is only making you look like a bigot, and doesn’t make you any better than the extremist Trump supporters
How things should be and how things are, are two completely different things. As much as I myself would like to have seen a 3rd party upset, it’s all pointless idealism in this election system. How things are: The electoral college basically makes it impossible for a 3rd party to win. How things are: Every battleground state Hillary lost would have been a win if the 3rd party voters pulled together and voted for her. How things are: Progressive social change is slow - expecting that to happen in a year with such a fragile balance of votes is nothing short of a pipe dream. How things are: There is no such thing as a perfect candidate - Literally look at all of our past presidents and their shortcomings and scandals. If you were deterred by Hillary’s email scandal and such - congratulations, you played right into the hand of Trump’s propaganda. How things are: a racist, bigoted fuck will soon control the country because enough people with liberal or progressive views were too divisive on their vote, were “trying to make a statement”. How things are: Any third party vote in this year’s election was not just a vote against Hillary, but because the balance was so fragile, it was also an indirect vote for trump. HOW THINGS ARE: You may have had good intentions for voting 3rd party, but failing to accept that your choice was a mistake, and ultimately won trump the election makes you no better than his supporters. Call me whatever you want, a bigot, a trump supporter, I don’t give a fuck, because unlike you and the rest of the people that went 3rd party, I actually care about the safety and rights of my friends. Also, you should probably check your reading comprehension, because I only directly said that Trump supporters should die - All of you 3rd party voters get the much more generous “fuck off and never talk to me again” version. You may have had good intentions, you may even share my social views, but the bottom line is that by stubbornly refusing educate yourselves and vote Hillary, you were part of the problem and indirectly won Trump the presidency.
Since clearly, none of you get it, here’s the TL;DR of the electoral college and why a vote for a 3rd party is the same as throwing your vote away: Basically, your popular vote doesn’t mean shit - you’re voting for a representative to cast electoral votes, which actually determine the presidency. The bigger your state’s population, the more electoral votes it has and therefore the more power it has. All but two (iirc) states have agreed on a majority takes all approach where, basically the majority win takes all. Additionally, there are QUITE a number of states that CONSISTENTLY vote democrat or republican (red or blue states respectively) where there is little to no chance of an upset. As such, there is almost a 0% chance that anything you do voting for a 3rd party will yield any electoral votes. All it will do is take some popular vote away from the main party candidates and make it easier for one of them to swoop in and take all of the electoral votes for a battleground state in a close race like this one as you have seen here. So yeah: If you claim to have any progressive views at all and you voted 3rd party or elected not to vote, you are part of the problem.
This was not the year to vote 3rd party out of spite or to “express my views uwu” - If you had any clue at all, you would have known how close this was going to be. All of you literally just played into Trump’s hand, and all of his bullshit lies, propaganda, and over-exaggeration about “Crooked Hillary” to divert from how shitty his own background was, and make 3rd party candidates look like knights in shining armor. Your 3rd party votes have forsaken 4 years of a well qualified, moderate democrat with fairly progressive views for a buffoon of an unqualified, radical republican who doesn’t respect the rights of Women, LGBT, or PoC. Beyond that just look at the stock exchange: Our dollar is crashing HARD because everyone is afraid of what is going to happen next - beyond civil rights, voting against Hillary is clearly going to have some dire effects on the national and global economy.
Take all that in? Yes? No? Either way if you’re still mad, I encourage you to block me so I don’t ever have to see you again.
1) There are 70 days until Donald Trump’s Inauguration. 70 days left of Obama as our President. There’s time. You can breathe.
2) There are Checks and Balances in the way our Government is run specifically to prevent a Dictatorship. While Donald Trump will soon be given a lot of power, it may not be as much as you think. He can’t change anything he wants at the drop of a hat, and he definitely can’t overturn any legislation previously deemed Unconstitutional. This includes Same Sex Marriage and other things.
Unless he can come up with a new, strong case against it (and the man can barely read, so, doubtful), that won’t stop being a thing. Many other things won’t stop being things the minute he sits in that chair. There’s time. You can breathe.
3) You are worth 100 of Donald Trump. He is a weak, pathetic little man who can only get what he wants by bullying or throwing money at it. Don’t let him take away the freedoms and rights that your predecessors fought tooth and nail for. You can still fight against him by voting in every upcoming local, state, or senate election you can over the next 4 years. By rallying and spreading the word and growing your own politics.
Don’t give up because the Boogeyman is President. You still have a big, glorious life to live full of new and fantastic experiences and feelings ahead of you. It doesn’t end here. You’re stronger than him. You can outlast this.
Checks and balances doesn’t really matter when republicans have domination of all three branches of government.
-Trump cannot do most of what he promised, even with a republican senate and house.
-He still has a rape case coming up and may still serve jail time.
-Trump ran as a democrat in 2012 and has tried to become president for way longer than you think. The only reason he went to republican is because he realized it would be easier.
-He is a joke and just wanted to become president as an ego boost. He’s not actually interested in making any real changes.
-His supporters will start to abandon him when they realize he can’t fulfill their desires.
-it’s just going to be 4 years. Besides, we’ve had bad presidents before and survived.
-We can always impeach him.
—
I know that it may be dangerous for a lot of people the next few days but trust me, it’s not the end of the world.
We will protest. We will impeach. We will fight. We’re not gonna let an attention hungry dried up orange ruin our lives.
Stay safe and stay positive. There is always hope and I hope this has helped you.
His presence will still perpetuate hate against POC, LGBT and women. It happened with brexit and brexit was just an opinion poll. After brexet, there was a lot more blatant racism and xenophobia in europe. It doesn’t matter what he can and cant do, the fact that he made it will be used as validation for racists and homophobes and other assholes who don’t care about people.
I dunno why is everyone making so much of a deal with this. I know, hes a xenophobic bastard and shit and has some shitty plans and has not that much of political experience, but At the end of the day the president is not the only one who rules over a country, shit wont go down that easily, this is 2016, not 1563
The problem is, this was the vote of the people. This is the apparent mindset of the majority of America.
The people who would apparently WANT a bigot in power, who would WANT a world like 1563, are living among the people who would be hurt badly by such a person.
That is why people in America are terrified right now, and I don’t blame them.
But that is not a reason to give in to fear!
It’s already a new day, everyone. Numbers will keep crunching, and the electoral vote hasn’t been taken yet.
Despite the kind of picture this election has painted of ignorant Americans, there are millions of Americans who want change! They are WITH YOU, and they are willing to take a stand against any injustices to see that change realized!
Keep moving forward, everyone! It might seem like things are “over”, but this is a new beginning! There is still hope yet! Don’t give up!
It’s not the mindset of the majority, clinton won the popular vote. but it was the result of gerrymandering and a campaign run on hate. And even if the republican dominated congress doesn’t pass his policies (which is unlikely) his presence is still something that will perpetuate hate towards POC, LGBT and women. Not to mention the only person who can stop him from launching nukes is the SoD who can be fired and replaced if they say no.
I design book covers. I was just
starting out when a client contacted me to do a bundle of five covers. Needless
to say, I jumped on it.
Well, I shouldn’t have. The first red
flag came when they negotiated my fare down to only 10% of what I would have
originally charged. I should have declined them then and there, but I was new
at this and needed the money.
Red flag number two?
Me: So what are the titles of the
books?
Client: I haven’t picked yet. But start
putting something together in the mean time.
Read flag number three:
Me: What are the plots?
The client listed five generic plotsthat
sounded recaps of recent rom-coms.
These covers were for romance novels.
The client had a few ideas for the layout they wanted – bulky, messy ideas, and
I couldn’t talk them out of it. The big idea was that even though these were romance
novels, they shouldn’t feature people. Just… “schemes.”
No, I don’t know what that means
either.
Me: (after seven revisions) How does this cover look to you?
Client: The plot of my book is about schemes.
You need to put more schemes in the cover.
Me: But no people?
Client: No people. Absolutely not.
Me: What kind of schemes are in the book?
Client: Perfume.
Me: …Perfume is a scheme?
Client: Of course!
I put a perfume bottle on the cover.
Client: What are you doing? I said more
schemes! How dim are you?
Finally, I broke off the relationship.
I told them that clearly I wasn’t doing the job they wanted, and I wasn’t
interested in continuing to do the work.
Two months later:
Client: So what - you’re not going to
do this design for me anymore?
If that’s their idea of “trying to get
someone back,” I doubt their romance novels are going to be any good.
Like it literally doesn’t matter if Trump can’t do any of the impossible, illegal things he’s promised. It doesn’t matter, because as soon as a platform built on hate is validated in this way, culture changes. Britain the morning after the Brexit vote was a different place. It wasn’t just the measurable rise in hate crimes and plummeting economy, it was people feeling free to say all the ugliest things they’d ever thought because they knew at least half the country was behind them.
In the coming days and months, please stay safe. Please never stop fighting for a better world. This won’t be forever.
