i just literally watched an ep where robin wanted to build a pool instead of a senior’s centre because he wanted to see starfire in a bikini and rub lotion on her and acting fucking creepy as fuck about it like what child goes through wanting to see one of their peers wearing a bikini how is this appealing/relatable to children like

there was also an episode i saw recently where the team lost their memory except for robin and he spent the entire episode convincing everyone he was their leader and he like, raised and saved everyone or something, basically convincing them to worship him, but when it came to starfire he tried to convince everyone she was his girlfriend and she seemed confused and uncomfortable but robin was like “ha ha! just a bit of couple banter! love you sweetie!” and refused to stop treating her like they were dating until she got her memory back? like? what message does that give. robin is a creepy bastard towards starfire in every episode i catch on tv. ttg is not a good tv show for children. it appeals to them through humour and designs and easy to follow storylines but that doesnt make it a good show for children, especially when they pass off someone like robin as a protag.

There was another episode where Cyborg was shown stalking Jinx, like he knew her favorite bands and foods and what she smelled like?? And they basically put a highlight on stalkers because even though she pointed out it was creepy, and he said “I know” in a comedy bit to brush it off, they ended up dating happily.

What is that teaching young boys and girls? That stalking is okay? That stalking is romantic? Come the fuck on.

I once saw an episode where Cyborg had a sass button that was pushed and then he acted like the sassy black woman stereotype for the rest of the episode. That was pretty uncomfortable to watch.

Teen Titan Go didn’t appeal to me for the episodes watched but I had no idea shit like that was happening what the hell?

You can’t just say it’s okay for kids shows to suck because they’re for kids because that’s insulting to kids. You wanna know what else was a kids show? Avatar the last airbender. And the original teen titans. And gravity falls. And they were good.

I do actually think there is a responsible way to write queer villains, and basically all it boils down to is “don’t make their queerness the villainous thing about them.”

They can be greedy, or violent or vicious or whatever, but these traits should be the thing that is terrifying about them, not their sexuality, gender, or gender expression. And the way they are presented, framed and reacted to by other characters should reflect that.

( also, imo if you have a queer villain, you should probably have some queer heroes too. :\ )

okok theres one part of elements i really liked but keep forgetting to talk about so ill post it b4 i forget again

but HEYO finn and pb’s platonic relationship is. really very important to me holy shit, AT’s been pushing the ‘moving on’ from his crush thing for a couple of seasons now and i still go hell yeah every time its reinforced

LSP tries to break the fire elemental curse on finn by telling him to go to his happy place but his brain automatically goes to all this past romantic stuff with PB at first, its real bad because its still wrapped in flames but Then

finn crushes it, puts out the fire (or rage and anger/pain as the element represents here)

and he goes back to his real happy place, back to pajama wars (still a super fav ep!!) where all they did was hang out like best friends w no hint of romance whatsoever

it felt like a real throwback to Dont Look where finn’s “true perception” of PB wasn’t an infatuated crush but just one of his bros

my boy’s moved on and is learning and enjoying his friendships and im proud of him

Yes!! And this is such an important thing to show young people

There was a lot of pain and awkwardness he had to deal with first. A common part of growing up when you have crushes. But he’s learned to appreciate and value his friendship with her, and of course PB values it too

Like he can actually enjoy his relationship with her now, now that he’s no longer chasing “the road that leads to nowhere”. The whole point of his crush on her has become to show how to deal with it and move on, and also to show that just because your crush doesn’t return those kinds of feelings, doesn’t mean they can’t be an important person in your life. 

Basically, don’t ruin important friendships over unrequited infatuation. You don’t have to be ashamed of having those feelings, but your crush has worth beyond the potential of returning them. You shouldn’t have to lose them and they shouldn’t have to lose you because you weren’t satisfied with the nature of the relationship

so stop burning yourself up over them and chill!!! you and them both will be so much happier
