I want to use this post to clear something up. When I talk about toxic masculinity it always causes a big backlash, and I’ve noticed it’s mainly because men don’t know what it means. When I say I hate toxic masculinity, I do not mean that I hate that you’re a man or that I hate masculinity.
Toxic masculinity is THIS. Toxic masculinity is when men reinforce the idea that men should suppress and ignore softer displays of emotions that are associated with women. Toxic masculinity is reinforcing the fear of physical affection between men because it makes them appear too feminine or even ‘homosexual’.
It has to stop. Let men cry. Let men hold each other. Stop perceiving things that are ‘feminine’ as weak because outing your emotions is not weakness, it’s strength.
I wish me and my pops were this close tbh
men need to grow up.

I love whenever someone goes “Christians have never been violent”, because I can point to literally every single Crusade, including some which were against OTHER CHRISTIANS. Oh, remember that time Venice sacked Constantinople, which was a Christian city? Remember the French crusades against other French people for not being the right kind of Christian, or for backing the wrong Pope when more than one guy claimed the title?
I can also point to the Catholics smacking down every other early form of Christianity. I can point to the Catholics wiping out entire sects of Christianity and several other small religions that evolved around the same time. I can point to the Catholic vs Protestant conflict and the many wars it started, up to and including the low intensity conflict known as The Troubles in Northern Ireland, which only ended IN THE NINETEEN NINETIES.
I can point to the fact that right now, there are Christian people in the United States of America who think waging war in the Middle East is God’s will for America. Because they think killing Muslims is holy.
I can point to the fact that right now, there are Christian nutjobs who think bombing abortion clinics is God’s will.
If Islam is responsible for all the crazies it has to put up with, then Christianity is just as bad.
However, I prefer to take the view that neither religion is inherently bad and both have just been abused by nutjobs, the same way anything else would be abused. The very moment it ever becomes possible to abuse atheism for personal gain, I guarantee someone will do it, and then atheism will look bad too because of its crazy followers. It’s humans that are the common factor.
