Repeat after me: - Veganism is not affordable - Veganism is not cruelty free - Veganism is not the best choice for everyone
Repeat after me -I’m an idiot and wrong. -Veganism can be made affordable. -Veganism is fucking cruelty free. That’s what it’s all about. - Veganism is the best choice for everyone, if everyone did it. -I’m a fucking asshole for making this completely wrong text post and should shut the hell up now.
People are literally starving in South America because all the Quinoa crop is being exported mainly for white vegans who want to live “cruelty-free” but don’t care about brown people as much as they do about animals.
plus, 4 of the 8 most common food allergies (soy, wheat, peanuts, and tree nuts) are common vegan substitutes.
o shit
i would literally starve to death if i couldn’t eat cheese or meats because my body cannot process nuts as they are too rough on my intestines and cause inflammation
Plus there are vegan articles floating around decrying the use of honey, even though the production and harvest of honey by responsible beekeepers doesn’t hurt the bees at all and is not exploitative, and that misinformation hurts the honey industry, which is TRYING TO SAVE BEES FROM EXTINCTION.
Also, a vegan diet is expensive as fuck. I can buy a days worth of tacos from taco bell for only $5. You know what I could buy for $5 that’s vegan? 2 onions. That’s it. Vegan diets are hella expensive so I’m gonna stick with taco bell.
Every time I see “guilt” or “sin” associated with food I roll my eyes so hard I’m worried they’re going to get stuck.
“5 Super Bowl Snacks you Don’t Have to Feel Guilty About!” Dear God Brenda just eat the nachos. They’re special, they make you happy, and some nachos for the Super Bowl are not going to make or break anything.
By all means, make the lettuce wraps too, but do so because they’re healthy and yummy, maybe they align with your goals better. But guilt and shame and sin shouldn’t never be associated with food. It is not healthy. It should not be normalized.
Food does not have morality. Food does not change your worth as a person.
The Seattle City Council has voted not to renew its contract with Wells Fargo, in a move that cites the bank’s role as a lender to the Dakota Access Pipeline project as well as its creation of millions of bogus accounts. As a result, the city’s won’t renew its contract with the bank that expires next year.
The unanimous vote will pull more than $3 billion in city funds from the banking giant, the council says. The city says the bidding process for its next banking partner will “incentivize ‘Social Responsibility.’”
After Seattle’s council acted, the city of Davis, Calif., took a similar action, voting to find a new bank to handle its roughly $124 million in accounts by the end of 2017.
