Today I spoke on the House floor to honor Fred Korematsu Day and to warn my colleagues that silence and complicity in the face of discrimination is never acceptable. It was shameful in 1942 and it is shameful today. We must always uphold the American principle of liberty and justice for all.

Fam…let me tell you bout Poland.
Let me tell you about how the entire rest of Europe sat ack and watched the invasion of Poland because they thought it would be “improper” to send military aid. How they were unwilling to enforce the treaties that Germany was breaking, because that would make them “just as bad.” They sat back and wrote strongly worded letters while fascists grew in power because they didn’t want to dirty their hands. They thought reasonable discussion and politics would be enough to stop a fascist dictator from rising to power.
my friend angella was doing a comedy gig, and as soon as she came out a guy shouted ‘can i give you my number?’ and all the crowd groaned cause it was so inappropriate but angella was like ‘yeah sure’. the guy started shouting out his number and she started entering it into her phone. the whole crowd was like woaaah. she got the whole number and then dialled it and it rang. everyone lost their shit. finally the guy answered and angella just said “hello? shut the fuck up” and it was the most incredible thing i’ve ever seen
I just wanna give a huge shoutout to the people in other countries who are protesting against trump bc y'all could’ve easily turned a blind eye and said “that’s none of my business” but instead you sacrificed your time and energy to fight for a country you don’t even live in and I just wanna say thank you thank you thank you
