i really have to kind of admire just how brutally blunt lemony snicket was in his books marketed to goddamn preteens that good people, including adults that really, really ought to help you, can and will let you down, that the world generally doesn’t give us answers to our most burning questions no matter how much we want them, and that in the end, there are going to be times when you have absolutely no clue, no vindication, no sign, no nada, nothing that what you are doing is the right thing.
One of the storyboard artists put a photo of Sokka in Toph’s cave at the storyboard stage. They found it hilarious, but decided it didn’t work because she was blind. They said it could have worked as a joke, though, with the photo being something Sokka gave her unthinkingly and being hung upside down.
Imagine Korra’s reaction though. “Is that… Councilman Sokka naked??” “Oh so that’s what’s on the picture no one told me”
For American science, the next four years look to be challenging. The newly inaugurated President Trump, and many of his Cabinet picks, have repeatedly cast doubt upon the reality of human-made climate change, questioned the repeatedly proven safety of vaccines. Since the inauguration, the administration has already frozen grants and contracts by the Environmental Protection Agency and gagged researchers at the US Department of Agriculture. Many scientists are asking themselves: What can I do?
And the answer from a newly formed group called 314 Action is: Get elected.
In his interview with Trevor Noah, Bid Sean talked a lot about his new album and charity. His own foundation is called Sean Anderson Foundation and it’s mostly for children from poor areas. He and his mom who’s helping him organized a mogul program that gets kids keep in touch with people and professional careers to try and give them guidance. Big Sean also has a pen pal program that gets kids writing and connecting with children in Africa.
“It’s just cool to see the progression and the difference we made in a lot of people’s lives,” he said.
