In the show, the fire nation is japanese and the water tribes are inuit and shyamalan got it so wrong that not only did they whitewash the main cast but also made the characters who were supposed to be japanese be indian. That’s like having a movie about hawaiians and having itallians play all everyone.Didn’t it turn out that the reason “The Last Airbender” was so whitewashed was because of excessive executive meddling, and not M. Night’s fault?
even if that is the case, shyamalan still butchard the whole story to the point where katara doesn’t even ask aang his name until they had already been traveling for weeks.
The bending was very lackluster compared to the show and don’t tell me it’s because they couldn’t create the effects well enough because the mummy, a movie from 1999, had a scene where the earth was rising and falling and chunks of earth was going every which way when the city was destroyed.
Basically it was the cast, writing and effects all being so horrible that caused it to flop.
But seriously though, they got the races so wrong in that movie that they had indians portraying what was supposed to be a japanese society and that’s just inexcusable.
