when in movies or on tv (or in real life, i dunno) some crook gets caught doing something illegal and offers the cop a bribe… what’s stopping the cop from pocketing the money and just arresting the dude anyway? i mean.
Generally they have the money stashed somewhere else and if the arrested can prove the cop took the money, the cop can be placed under investigation and the crook acquitted
These are two completely unrelated things but I’m just cracking up imagining the conductor of the infamously dangerous and inhumane Stanford prison experiment looking back on the abuse he had perpetuated against his research subjects and saying “man… I should do a nicer experiment next time”
