Hamilton star Daveed Diggs in Clinton Vs. Trump

Hamilton star Daveed Diggs gives a tour de force performance in “Clinton Vs. Trump.” Maybe the single most important video to watch and share before you vote.

  • “It’s like an aching chasm of infinity multiplied algorithmically by pi and then quintupled. THAT’S how BIG the DIFFERENCE is.“

Listen, our current insanity & what’s at stake has me so on edge these past few days that I just stepped out to watch this & promptly cried. So watching this man, whom I respect beyond all measure, so eloquently demonstrate why this is so important with his trademark wit & humor is what I needed this morning to fight back the ever-growing nausea that’s rising in my stomach.

Also, I will now be using “a racist misogynist Cheeto-dusted human trash fire.” Happily, I might add.

I know everyone hates the extra added inconvenience of clicking through links, but hey, go yell at FB for not allowing their crap to be posted elsewhere. But stop what you’re doing. Take the time out of your day. This is direly important.

Please watch this. Please. I shouldn’t have to beg at this point. No one should have to tell us why this is so terrifying. But if you have to watch anyone hit the point home, it’s Daveed. Believe me, this is not only spot-on, but brilliantly hilarious.

Watch. Vote.

Now with finally-uploaded YouTube video *IN* the damn post; woo!

Again. Please. Watch.

How to call for help if your voting rights are violated or you have questions about voting

chronicreality:

realsocialskills:

If someone tries to stop you from voting, or you run into other problems, or you just have questions, there are election hotlines which may be able to help. There are nonpartisan lines in several languages. The Democratic Party also has an ASL video phone line and a texting line. The Department of Justice has several ways to report possible voting rights violations. The NFB has a line specifically for blind and low vision voters. There may also be resources specific to your state.

The Election Protection Hotline  866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) is nonpartisan. They’re run by lawyers who care about protecting everyone’s right to vote. They’re also affiliated with a couple of other organizations who have hotlines in additional languages. They work to make sure individual voters can vote:
Spanish/English: 888-Ve-Y-Vota 888-839-8682 by NALEO Educational fund
Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Bengali, Urdu, Hindi Tagalog, or English: 888-API-VOTE  APIAVote and Asian Americans Advancing Justice-AAJC.
Arabic/English: 844-418-1682 Arab American Institute’s #YallaVote hotline

The National Federation of the Blind has an election hotline for blind and low vision voters (nonpartisan): 877-632-1940 (November 8 from 7 a.m. EST to 7 p.m. PST)

The Democratic Party also has hotlines for voter assistance, including an ASL line and a texting number (I don’t know of any nonpartisan texting or ASL options unfortunately):
Voice: 844-464-4455
For texting, you can text QUESTION to 47246.
ASL voting hotline, 240-204-6475 on videophone (VP) There’s an ASL video about this hotline here.

You can also report possible voting rights violations to the Department of Justice. The DOJ is likely more interested in the overall issue than your case specifically — it’s absolutely worth reporting issues to them, but probably worth trying to contact Election Protection (or one of the affiliated organizations) or the party of the candidate you want to vote for first:
Online complaint form
voting.section@usdoj.gov
Phone (800) 253-3931 (toll free)
Phone (202) 307-2767
Fax (202) 307-3961
TTY  877-267-8971

There may also be hotline numbers specific to your state.
For instance, in North Carolina, there is
Disability Rights North Carolina  877-235-4210 (888-268-5535 TTY)
The North Carolina State Board of Elections has a form for reporting incidents  and a guide to what is and is not acceptable from people who wish to observe or monitor the polls
Local county boards of elections also have phone numbers, fax numbers, and email addresses

tl;dr If someone tries to stop you from voting, or you run into other problems, or you just have questions, there are election hotlines which may be able to help. There are nonpartisan lines in several languages. The Democratic Party also has an ASL video phone line and a texting line. The Department of Justice has several ways to report possible voting rights violations. The NFB has a line specifically for blind and low vision voters. BRING YOUR CELL PHONES. RECORD ANY OF IT. You only have to stop recording while you are voting (and can’t record other people’s votes.) Without evidence or willing witnesses, it’s your word against theirs. And they will play the disabled card against you. RECORD IT.

SCAM: You cannot vote by text

Republicans have a new scam going.  They have created memes, messages, etc. encouraging Hillary Clinton supporters to vote early by text.  Avoid long lines it says..well this is a SCAM.  You cannot vote by text.  Republicans are just trying to disenfranchise voters.  And oh look, they are targeting African American voters.  Republicans never stop trying to prevent black people from voting.

Please don’t vote by text

!!ELECTION DAY REMINDERS!!

sydnymarie:

Election day is TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8th

  • You can check your polling place AND time HERE.
  • I would HIGHLY recommend bringing two forms of ID [a gov. i.e. your license or photo ID AND your voter ID] with you to poll. Some states have voter ID laws, and in other states you need your ID if it’s your first time voting  at that particular location.
  • Avoid any trouble, don’t wear any pins, tshirts, etc. for a particular candidates. Some areas consider it passive electioneering.
  • You CAN NOT vote via text, online, etc. Anyone advertising otherwise is lying.
  • The only person to ask you for your ID should be the individual working the polls sitting at a table inside the building in question. If anyone else asks you for your ID or gives you a hard time, they have no authority to do so and should be avoided.
  • You CAN NOT take a photo of your ballot/voting machine/etc. Take a cute photo with your “I Voted” sticker after and call it a day.
Most importantly, stay safe, be smart and VOTE VOTE VOTE
Obama says what many people are thinking about Trump’s Twitter account getting taken away

ionaonie:

vox:

“Now, you may have heard that — this was just announced, I just read it, so I can’t confirm it’s true, but — this campaign has taken away his Twitter. In the last two days, they had so little confidence in his self-control, they said ‘We’re just gonna take away your Twitter.’ Now, if somebody can’t handle a Twitter account, they can’t handle the nuclear codes. If somebody starts tweeting at 3 in the morning because SNL made fun of you, you can’t handle the nuclear codes.” — Barack Obama

It’s Election Day at last, Tumblr

Two years, twenty-four debates, and ten thousand panic attacks since campaigning began, the election of 2016 is finally upon us.

We can’t tell you who to vote for, but…

We can point you to all of the clear-headed, open-hearted debate that’s been happening on Tumblr.

We can help you find your polling place, if you don’t know it already. And we can help you show off your participation with a little sticker. See your dashboard for details.

We can urge you to vote. Please vote. Vote like your future depends on it. Because this time, it really does.

Get out there and change the world, Tumblr.
