fuck it

i dont want girls sexualising mlm relationships anymore. at all

i dont want them fetishizing our relationships bc they think it’s sexy

i dont care if its a “way for them to express their sexuality”. that aint right and its messed that they can say that they want men in the porn industry to stop fetishizing wlw relationships, only to do the same bc its “fandom”

can yall please reblog this actually ??

bc like. im a boy attracted to boys. and this is making me uncomfortable and i want it to stop

and im not the only one ? a handful of people have agreed with me and im sure there are more

please dont ignore this bc you want to keep writing/drawing/reading m/m porn…. or bc im a boy and you dont care what i have to say….. especially if you disagree with the treatment of wlw in the porn industry its a double standard and this is important to me and i dont want it to be swept under the rug

People in the comments not understanding that there’s a difference between fetishizing mlm relationships and writing/drawing mlm relationships with a degree of respect. We’re not asking you to stop getting involved in mlm fictional ships; we’re asking that you stop reducing mlm ships to hypersexualized fetishistic tropes.

You can say that you’re just “expressing your sexuality” until your blue in the face but the bottom line is that tropey, fetishized content does legitimate damage to young mlm who go into fandom looking for stories that express how they feel and run smack dab into JohnLock noncon. They run into a wall of hateships where mortal enemies are shown having violent sex being held up as the main ship of the fandom (hi Reaper76!). They run smack dab into fandom that ships two men together, not because they have anything in common or actually like each other, but because they’re two conventionally attractive people they want to see have sex.

When all you focus on is the sexual appeal of a ship, you leave out mlm who are not conventionally attractive. You alienate asexual mlm. You reduce the multifaceted experiences and desires of mlm to two attractive people who exist to fuck for your pleasure. MlM who look for their experiences in fandom are told that they’re purpose is to be fetishized for the enjoyment of people who aren’t then. This isn’t to say that every mlm story is disrespectful or fetishistic. There are certainly stories/fanart that respectfully explore mlm relationships and expand on more than just the sexual aspect of mlm relationships.

Obviously, I can’t stop anyone from doing what they want to do. There are hundreds if not thousands of mlm stories where rape is portrayed as love. There are hundreds drawings of two guys, covered in blood, making out being portrayed as a healthy relationship. That’s basically all I saw as a young bisexual kid trying to use the media I loved to figure myself out and being so repulsed by the fanworks (I came of age in the mid 00′s seme/uke hellscape) that I found that I was scared to identify as mlm until I was much older.

MlM do not exist to be consumed; we are not tools to express your sexuality. We deserve to be positively represented as something other than cheap titillation.

KIRK IS HOLDING A ZINNIA. THE SAME FUCKING FLOWER.

FUCKING NASA MAN

No. Nononono. You don’t understand.

I am so mad about this. Like, not like I wanna kill someone, but mad, as in, hysterical?

They wanted to answer questions about plants in space, right? How biology and botany would work in space. Because then who knows? We could grow crops in space, or fix the atmosphere. Or create the perfect biome for plants that are now extinct. Who fucking knows, right?

They could have taken a food crop. Wheat, maybe. Or rice. Something they could observe to see if it would be possible to solve a food shortage or whatever. Maybe a small apple tree to see if it would bloom, and then see if there could be a way to make it fruit.

Or, you know, go the genetics route and take a sweet pea. See if zero gravity does anything to how genes are passed on. Mendel did it in a shed, why not a tin shed in outer space, right? Oh the possibilities.

Was it so wrong to take the zinnia? No, of course not. In my little horticultural brain, I thought, oh how lovely! A splash of colour in the emptiness of space. Something bright and cheerful, something that gives hope. That must have been it, right?

But no.

SOMEONE went, “Nah, mate, here’s an episode of Star Trek where Kirk is holding a ZINNIA in a SPACE DESERT.”

I could scream. I don’t know if I love or hate these fucking nerds. Oh my gods.

What if by alien standards we are really cute?

And I don’t mean like attractive cute, I mean like baby otter cute. What if the stumble upon us and go “ohhhhh my god!!! Oh my god!!!! I’m dying this is- look at it! Look at them!!! Oh my god!!!”

We usually imagine having to come up with some Devils trade or unholy arrangement to get tech and trade with aliens, but the instant they see us the aliens immediately set out into conservation efforts. They’re like “their habitat is becoming harsh and unlivable for them! We have to save them!” And everyone just puts a picture of us next to this information and they all agree “Look at them! We have to save them!!” We become like the panda mascots of intergalactic conservation efforts.

Simultaneously, our main export is just streams, videos, holograms, and photos of us. Aliens lose their composure completely over videos of us sneezing or yawning or eating pop tarts or playing video games or taking care of our kids.

There are lines of aliens who would LOVE to have a human in their home or on their ship. It’s a little condescending (we’re not sure if we’re guests or well treated exotic pets) but still a good opportunity, and any human who wants can go to space at any time basically for free or even for profit, and the aliens will go out of their way to give you anything you ask for.

There are obvious downsides. We struggle to be taken seriously. While it’s usually shut down pretty quickly, every once in a while some alien group sees the demand for us and tries to start an illegal trade. But at the same time, it’s neat that somewhere out there is an alien (or usually a LOT of aliens) that would love you unconditionally, find every flaw and idiosyncrasy endearing, be worried about you and do anything they could to make you safe and happy. They work hard to make our planet and our personal lives better and don’t ask for anything in return. They just do it because they decided we are important and worth saving just for existing. It’s an odd relationship, and we’re not always sure what to make of it, but honestly it goes a lot better than we worried alien contact would.

I’m down to be a spoiled pampered alien pet.

Nicholas Rush’s worst nightmare…

This is such a different post from the one where we’re the terrifying combusting demons.

Yeah I know but I love these speculative sci-fi posts all the same.

That was the entire motivation for why rose quartz started the rebellion
