Cracked: Why Was Lapis Lazuli in the Mirror?

gem-science:

People are mad at the Crystal Gems for imprisoning Lapis Lazuli in her mirror, but it turns out they never did that!

In the episode, Pearl shows Steven the mirror, stating “We found this Gem powered mirror at the Galaxy Warp!”, meaning that they found Lapis in that state after the war.

Let’s connect this to another strange Gem phenomenon, Gem Shards. When a Gem becomes cracked, they lose sentience and become mindless Gem Shards that can be used to power various items. Gem Shards so far have been stated to not have a mind or consciousness, but simply act on instinct.

Now let’s go back to Lapis: When Steven reveals that Lapis is communicating coherently through the mirror, the Crystal Gems are absolutely horrified. Why? Because they thought Lapis was a Gem Shard. They thought her Gem was completely cracked all the way through, and she therefore didn’t have a mind to suffer through thousands of years of entrapment.

Pearl is the first to realize that a sentient being was trapped inside the mirror, even covering her mouth in shock.

Amethyst, showing an out-of-character moment of pure fear, urges Garnet to “do something”.

The Crystal Gems had no idea Lapis was still alive. They thought she was dead and were using her Gem to power the mirror. And they were utterly terrified when they realize that Lapis has essentially been tortured for thousands of years and they did nothing to stop it.

Now, why was Lapis put in the mirror? My theory is this:

During the war, Lapis was fatally injured with a blow to the back. The healer or doctor or whatever the Gem equivalent of a nurse is decided that she was too far gone to save her and wrote her off for dead, imprisoning her in the mirror because they thought she was dead anyway.

But she wasn’t dead, she was still alive the whole time.

This is why you always double-check before you bury a corpse, people.

after seeing lapis’s backstory it becomes even more horrifying and why she had nowhere to go. she was poofed by a crystal gem and placed in the mirror by homeworld.

Homeworld thought she knew where the crystal gems were based and tried to use her. And then, when she couldn’t answer they just left her. They left her when the diamonds used their song

image

and while they were escaping the diamonds song, that’s when she cracked.

image

now why did she initially hate the crystal gems so much? well that’s easy. It’s because it was a crystal gem who poofed her and left her in that prison.

notice the shape and hair of the gem who poofed her

she was poofed by none other than bismuth

kafkaes:

whether or not you believe in ghosts, ghost adventures is still top quality comedy. if you don’t believe in ghosts, it’s a show about three white boys who lock themselves in old buildings with overpriced equipment and convince themselves they’re being haunted. if you do believe in ghosts, it’s a show about three white boys who lock themselves in old buildings with overpriced equipment and antagonize the dead.

So earlier today I mentioned posting some “remastered” versions of my old works, and here they are!

In the past, I’d always been reluctant to add watermarks to my work, because I felt they’d detract from the pictures themselves; however over the course of the past week alone I’ve been met with too many instances to count of people reposting my work without my permission, both credited and not.

This is genuinely one of the biggest dickmoves you can make to an artist, as it’s a case of taking their hard work, stuff that they are genuinely proud of and that they spent time and effort making, and throwing it out in a frequently random and completely out of context manner without even having the courtesy to ask first, and -in some instances - expecting them to appreciate it.

While I’m aware that this is a sadly incredibly common occurrence, I maintain that it really doesn’t need to be.

  Regretfully however, I am likely going to have to start watermarking my work like this. I was thinking something along the lines of;

Don’t be a Dick,
Don’t Repost.

I repost because i want people to notice these cool art, and you want people to not know you? Stop this bullshit pls

image

(hopefully this is just a bit of confusion over the difference between reblogging and reposting but dude.)

Re-posting my work is only okay to me if sourced; but even then I 100 percent prefer a reblog. Every time.

Never post my art without my permission. If you wanna post it on another site, ask me first.

I want Moana to become huge. I don’t care if it gets the Frozen treatment or the Minions treatment. I don’t care if the songs get played over and over until they’re unbearable. I don’t care if it becomes annoying and people say, “ugh, not again” when their kids beg to watch it on TV.

All I want is Moana on birthday cakes. I want plushies of Moana in every toy store. I want kids dressing up as Moana for Halloween. Moana in coloring books and plastered on bus stops.

I want Moana — this curious, dark-skinned, curly-haired, stocky girl with no love-interest; this girl who dares to take destiny into her own hands — to be the first thing that people think of when they hear the words “Disney Princess.” I want her to become who little girls aspire to be.

Do you think the SU fandom would change their behavior in the end future?

not until they either get the show canceled or harass the writers to attempt suicide.
