Argh, dammit. Yes. Yes to almost all of these. Also:
“surrender all your weapons” *four hours later they’re still producing knives from impossible places*
“I’m sure X will be fine” *cut to X screaming while approximately Everything Goes Horribly Wrong*
ridiculously co-dependent pairs who are basically joined at the hip
that thing where someone is hanging their head then looks up and their eyes narrow and UH OH SHIT’S ABOUT TO GET REAL
An epic buildup for a bad ass character only for them to get curb stomped
The weak character never dies and for some reason keeps popping up and acts like the most bad ass badass
Some of you have been saying how rude, hurtful, careless of Steven was in this.
When I saw it, I thought it was weird, out of character. Steven is a very emphatic person, he knows his mum is a delicate subject for both Pearl and Greg. And this subit comment, completeky tactless, led me to one of the most important lines of the episode
‘’This is exactly why I brought you’’
That careless attitude was absolutely intentional, he was pointing at the elephant in the room, the subject that was there, ignored by both Pearl and Greg, undiscussed. They needed to talk about it and Steven touched it with that carefree attitude because of it. Notice how he looks at them after he said that, seized their reactions, still smiled.
He knew exactly what he was saying and he led them to a communication and I’m so proud.
The first bit reads- “ THE URBAN LEGEND HAS COME TRUE CIPHER’S STATUE’S CALLING YOU THE SECRET MAP IS IN YOUR HAND TO TRACE THE CLUES ACROSS THE LAND”
The middle is “ PINES”
and the last bit is- “DON’T FORGET IT’S ALL FOR PLEASURE THE HUNT ITSELF’S THE REAL TREASURE BUT A PRIZE AWAITS FIRST ONE THERE BE SAFE BE SMART, AND OF COURSE BEWARE”
As far as we know, Pearl never danced with a human before. We only see her dancing with the gems and no one else.
So to have Greg of all people, insist on dancing together, she snaps. She believed fusion was the ultimate connection between gems. Yet Greg was able to connect with Rose on another level.
Fusion is kind of a big deal for her. Same with Garnet but on a different standpoint. She hated that, so having Greg attempt to dance with her in order to bond was out of the question.
To have Pearl finally offer her hand to Greg to dance is a great step foward. They finally fused. Their friendship is blooming.
You know, if you said fusion was just friendship when rainbow quartz happened, rosepearl shippers would have lynched you. His isn’t just friendship, pearl “fusing” with greg means she’s developing feelings. It’s probably not even out of nowhere either because remember how her first dream was about greg?
