I just hope that this Peridot arc not end in either a "trust no one" or a "Peridot gem get destroyed forever" if homeworld send somegem to replace Peridot's original job.

It will end with her being a crystal gem.

I loved this moment in the new episode so much - there’s something really beautiful in how short and simple it seems, but a lot of really important things are happening all at once.

I think this is Peridot’s first time really taking a step forward and doing something based on faith. She admits to not knowing anything without her screen and logs; Peridot is logical and follows orders, and she is very cautious. As we’ve seen, she’s not very skilled at taking care of/defending herself when things go awry, and without her limb enhancers, she feels extremely vulnerable.

Yet here she takes a chance by believing in Steven. She’s placing her trust in someone she saw as an enemy and a danger to her well-being. Peridot is on a planet where she understands almost nothing, yet she allows herself to open up to someone, trust them, and experience something totally new.

I think that’s what I love so much about this scene. Peridot is experiencing something new on her own, possibly for the first time, without any factual assurance that the New Thing wont hurt her. This is Peridot’s first time, I think, really trusting anyone enough to put herself into a frightening situation.

This is such a huge leap, shown in such a brief moment. Peridot is hesitant and analytical when touching rain for the first time (startled when it touches her, feeling it between her fingers, cupping it in her hand). And then you see her clench her fist and make that choice, that decision, to experience the New Thing head on. She steps outside and is greeted with a totally new sensation: rain falling down on her. And Steven praising her for taking that chance.

And then just, that look she gives Steven at the end, agreeing that it’s ‘cool’ - I feel like Steven may be the first person Peridot has ever actively decided to trust and confide in, by choice rather than obligation or fear.

I just… really love it! I cannot wait for their relationship to develop more, and to see what kind of a gem Peridot grows to be once she’s learned more about the Earth and Steven and all they have to offer.

You think I came out the pussy drawing fucking mozart!?

steven universe is clearly not a real american cartoon bc they’ve never had an episode where someone gets sick and everyone else has to shrink down and pilot a tiny vehicle through their body to find out what’s wrong

The official comic tells a different story ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Steven positively saying “What’s up, Dot?”, as opposed to “What’s up Doc?”, as I kept hearing.

Hooray for fact checking.
