To those who complain about teen titans go. It’s suppose to make fun of the seriousness that is within those story arcs. Those who hate it probably have no humor and for that I feel bad for you.

Saying it’s a spoof is an insult to the art of parody. Also, spoofs don’t tend to last more than an episode. It’s just flat out poor writing and mean spirited humor and one dimensional caricatures of the original characters

Steven universe is a kids show

Gravity falls is a kids show

We bare bears is a kids show

Avatar and Korra are kids shows

(the original) teen titans was a kids show

star vs the forces of evil are kids shows

The best kids shows are ones that challenge children to think. The best kids shows give all characters depth. Saying poor writing is excusable because “it’s a kids show” is an insult to kids and kid shows everywhere. That is why I don’t like it when people say teen titans go shouldn’t be criticized because it’s a kids show.

Tangled actually did a better job capturing an emotionally abusive relationship than most other things I’ve seen. And I don’t just mean when Gothel kidnapped her and lied to her about who she was. It was everything. She kept Rapunzel with her by cutting people out of her life and destroying her self-esteem. She puts her down and doesn’t allow her to feel confident at all. Recall when Rapunzel states she thinks Flynn likes her, Gothel blows her off with, “But just look at you. You think he’s impressed?” She also constantly makes Rapunzel feel responsible for everything that goes wrong. When they get in the argument in the beginning, Gothel victimizes herself and does her best to make Rapunzel feel guilty for asking her for a simple favor. It’s so textbook. And immediately after anything, she treats Rapunzel by promising her favourite soup and reminding her, “I love you most” to reel her back into that false sense of security.

And back to the animation of how she didn’t notice the maternal and loving hand was actually a malicious claw until she realised she was in an abusive relationship. Basically, Tangled is a really important movie, and the fact Gothel is so familiar to those of us who have experienced abuse is good because children are going to watch this and look for Gothels in their own lives.

If you bring up TTG and your dislike of it, you’re either greeted with people who agree with you, or people who say ‘You’re living in the past’ or ‘It’s a KIDS show get over it’ or ‘This is different, it’s not meant to be taken seriously’

This is what people and Cartoon Network themselves fail to understand: We get that and pretty much fully accept this is not OUR Teen TItans

It’s not that we’re opposed to the idea of a comedic reboot of something we love at all, I mean it’s worked amazingly in the past! Sonic is really benefiting from it with the new cartoon series, and even something as serious as BATMAN turned into Batman Brave and the Bold, and a lot of people love that series!!

So it’s not the fact that they turned Teen Titans into a comedy: It’s the fact that they did it wrong on so many levels, and the fact that the show runners and the network itself act like literal children when it comes to criticism.

This is a pretty good explanation of why a lot of people can’t stand Teen Titans Go. The show probably means well and it might be even trying to get different messages across in the episodes mentioned here (I can’t say for sure, nobody can unless anyone working on the show confirms anything), but it’s executed so poorly that it comes off as mean.

Also, useing “it’s a kids show” is a poor excuse and it’s insulting to both kids and kid shows.
There were many shows for kids that were well written like batman TAS, steven unievrse, gravity falls and yes I will say it here, the original teen titans. They were shows directed for kids that never insulted the kids intelligence. They were smart shows which let a kid think and actually had characters with depth and story arcs.

Saying it’s writing is excused because it’s a kids show is an insult to kids.
