anakin skywalker does not use jedi mind tricks

not once in the films

do you think that’s a coincidence

not on your life buddy

anakin skywalker does not have it in him to overrule another being’s free will

he murders a bunch of children with a laser sword

The jedi took children from their homes with force. Those children had no more families because of the jedi and while yes, killing them was horribly wrong, so was taking them in the first place.

The problem about the prophecy of the force is that the jedi were so caught up in destroying the sith to bring balance that they never considered they may be part of the problem. The only way for there to be true balance is for the jedi and sith to be mutually destroyed. That’s where Anakin brought balance. He destroyed both the jedi and sith and left the future of the force in the hands of those who know there is no difference between light side and dark side.

Reminder: Anakin’s life is FULL of failure. Imagine growing up and constantly hearing “You are the chosen one who will bring balance.” That’s a big weight, even on a bratty kid. Anakin grew up, convinced that because he was the hero, he needed to be flawless. Because that’s what he knows of the Jedi growing up in a desert town. He sees his mistakes as signs that he’s weak. He keeps taking on all the fault for things, because as a hero, he’s responsible for EVERYTHING.

These failures built up. He couldn’t even save his mother. Mind you, he couldn’t have done anything, but he took the blame anyway. His failure led to him murdering a group of sand people, which was another mistake as well. (The expanded universe even goes so far as to say that the scar in the force Anakin left that day is enough to drive any force sensitive mad if they go to that site.)

He was never evil. He was never doing things out of sick desire. He did it because he thought he was supposed to. Because he was the chosen one who had to do it right.

As for why Anakin never took away another’s free will… He was a slave. He knew how it felt to have his freedom taken away. His choice was to never be a slaver. As Vader, he still never used his powers to enslave others. He actually spent most of his time hunting Obi-Wan and overseeing operations.

As for the future of the force, it was left in the hands of luke who killed many people with the force and used tactics often associated with the dark side such as force choke. but he learned the cost of balance and that allowed families the choice of letting force sensitive people join the new jedi order. With no more jedi and no more sith, there was just the force to guide his teachings so he and his students aren’t jedi so much as force users. True force users.

What if Steven decides he wants to go to school? Like, its September and Connie has to go back to school and Steven’s like “well, if Connie’s going i want to go too.” Think of the possibilities:

–Steven and Connie riding in every day on Lion

–Steven not understanding why he has to STAY SEATED for so long

–Steven frowning during history lessons because “thats not how Pearl said it was”

–Steven making friends by telling stories about Gem stuff during recess (no one believes him until the Gems show up to pull him for a mission)

–the Crystal Gems trying (and failing) to make sack lunches for Steven in the mornings, so eventually Mr. Maheswaran takes pity and packs one for him along with Connie’s

–PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES WITH ALL THREE GEMS AND GREG

–the principal becoming more and more frustrated every time the Gems pull Steven out to go on missions but being too intimidated by them to do anything about it

ok but you’re missing the most important possibility: pta mom garnet

ok I’ve seen the word gaslighting used completely insensitively and incorrectly, and I really wanted to remind everyone that gaslighting is a term used for a specific kind of abusive tactic where the abuser continually and purposefully makes you doubt your perception of reality, in order to make you doubt what happened to you actually happened, and ultimately doubt your sanity. for example, hitting you and then continuously saying they never hit you and you must have imagined it. not someone disagreeing with you, not someone saying your opinion is wrong - that’s an argument. can we please not water down important abuse terminology
