Reasons Why Retail Jobs are Harder than Office Jobs.
And yet people don’t think retail workers should get a living wage. I’ve literally gotten a five cent raise myself.
8 cent raise right here
Food industry is quite similar to retail.
Literally the difference between a supervisor role and base pay for us is 50 cents or less. And when you’re talking about four hour shifts, and roles change each shift, it’s not much.
Supervisor pay bump was something like ~$2 with the previous security company. Was nice when the supervisor went on maternity and I temporarily got the gig and that raise plus two shifts of overtime a week. My pay checks doubled for a couple months.
She just went on maternity again, but the new company isn’t making one of us the supervisor in her stead, she’s supposed to keep those responsibilities even while she’s gone. Plus only getting one shift of OT a week this time. On the plus side though this new company does straight up pay me ~$2 more an hour base.
I actually think this was pretty responsible. Rather than banning it outright, which would result in kids wanting to rebel even more, she offers it in her home where she can control the amount people drink. Good on ya, Mrs George. You’re a cool mom.
She also offered her daughter a condom when she was hooking up with a guy instead of freaking out and kicking the guy out of the house.
It’s kinda funny how she is simultaneously an out-there parent, yet not a bad one. She might actually understand that her daughter is a anger-ridden teenager who can’t be easily controlled and restricted, so instead of telling her what she can’t do, she tries to guide her to a safer decision. I’m not saying I’m 100% cool with how she executes it, but hey, not a bad parent when you think about it.
next up on tumblr: psychoanalysing the mean girls mother.
I suffered from really bad chronic nosebleeds when I was a kid and one time i had one so bad it covered my face and chest and shirt. i mean it was everywhere i looked like i’d just eaten someone. so i go to my mom and tap her awake and she opens her eyes to see a blood soaked child leaning over her in the dark saying ‘please help’ and to this day and can still hear her screaming

Cancerwareness: How would you feel if your parents were raising money to make sure nobody ever has a child like you?
Cysticfibrosisawareness: How would you feel if your parents were raising money to make sure nobody ever has a child like you?
Taysachsawareness: How would you feel if your parents were raising money to make sure nobody ever has a child like you?
Do you realize how ridiculous this sounds?
Maybe your fucking parents care about the troubles and issues you’ve suffered and hope another child doesn’t have to suffer you absolute morons.
You’re making a common but very dangerous mistake by comparing autism to cancer and chronic illnesses. Unlike cancer, autism is a fundamental part of how our brains are built, which means that autism cannot be separated from who we are as people. Autism isn’t an illness, it’s a neurotype - it’s something we are, not something separate like cancer that is happening to us and which is inherently negative. When you want to remove or cure our autism, you’re saying that you want to cure or remove a central part of who we are, a defining part of our personalities and how we experience the world, and that’s a very dangerous sentiment to have towards your child.
The suffering associated with cancer is caused by cancer.
The suffering associated with autism is not caused by autism, but by how society treats autistic people.
Stop comparing them.
If you don’t want an autistic person to suffer, just stop making them suffer.
