me when a white actor plays a racist character a little too well
It’s called
ACTING
It’s almost like they’re payed to play a role and they spend their whole lives learning how to successfully play many different roles. Like they’ve trained their whole lives learning how to convince people that they actually are the person they are playing.
Firstly, who the fuck gave her a press pass? She’s not going to report anything and her audience doesn’t play games. This has been proven time and time again. Her website gets shit views and she produces content at a snails pace. So who is pulling favors to get her worthless ass on the show floor?
Secondly, It’s not attached. It’s clearly a removable insert. Of all the things to lie about…
Thirdly, Anita is literally being the puritan everyone mocks her for being. Showing a little thigh and midriff? so.. UNFORTUNATE. You can practically hear her smug eye rolling and sneering through the tweet. Bunch of sex negative bullshit.
Fourth, isn’t this exactly what she wanted? It’s a non-violent game about dancing and music. Oh wait. That’s right. She’s a stuck up puritan.
It’s an insert she’s presenting as if it’s an integral attachment to the badge. Let’s be BRUTALLY honest here. Anita isn’t looking at this as even a convention goer, she’s looking for everything she can use to attack the convention with. Calling her a puritan is probably very inaccurate, she probably has no problems with these things really. What she IS, as far as I can tell, is an anti-gaming advocate who’s positioned herself to appear as a commentator from inside the fanbase.
Bolded for emphasis on a VERY astute observation.
It’s easy to take Anita’s action at face value and see her as some moronic whiner, but don’t forget that she started doing this “I’ve been a gamer all my life” act and commenting on the currently popular games and events because she’s desperately trying to uphold the facade that she’s a dedicated gamer who is speaking out against the prevalent issues and problems that she can’t stand anymore.
Before her kickstarter scam became a runaway success and she realized she could become a very rich professional victim, her involvement with video games included a tweet about portal and a Bayonetta video that was so poorly informed that she took it down after embarrassing herself.
She wants everyone to think she’s a gamer because it makes her seem more authentic, gives her an excuse to get more victim points over being called a fake gamer girl, like all the other idiots, and it makes her look extra rebellious and brave for taking on the Man-o-centric maleocracy that is video games.. a sort of.. “YEAH. That’s right BOYS. A girl.. who plays VIDEO GAMES!” act, if you catch my drift.
Her over all reaction to pretty much every E3 presentation, especially Bethesda’s, clearly shows what she was there for; to find new things to be outraged about.
DOOM? Too violent. Dishonored 2? Emily isn’t the only character you can play. Fallout 4? The crafting is built around killing people.
The insert she’s bitching about is just another sign that she has no clue about games, because if she did she’s know the character and game pictured and why that outfit isn’t as sexist as she’s claiming. And she tries to blow off this type of criticism with “it’s just people hating me for being a woman”. No, we’re hating on you because you consistently get shit WRONG. I mean for Christ’s sake she praised Lara Croft for “wearing a jacket for the first time outside a DLC” except Lara’s worn a jacket several times in several games already.
As for her in general, I firmly believe she’s little more than a figurehead for McIntosh to put some legitimacy behind his radical mindset. I mean look at the tweets both his and the FemFreq account have done, the identical ones. His? barely any favs and retweets. Hers? hundreds and hundreds.
I have read plenty of comics in which I throw my hands and give up because I get so bored reading all the dialogue they have, but while ask king Sombra is more dialogue orientated then say, action orientated I don't think I've ever felt myself bored reading your comic. Any tips on how to make dialogue heavy sections more engaging, Or at least avoid being frustrating?
Break it up! Personally, I try to avoid giant chunks of dialogue when I can. The worst thing you can do is put a literal paragraph of text in a panel- because people aren’t going to want to read it. Most people tend to skim comics and when there’s a giant section of text, their eyes are like ‘nahhh’
Liiike this is an example of BADNESS:
But then if you break it up… it’s a lot easier to digest!
BUUUUUUUUUUT I’d recommend keeping the text per panel ratio as small as possible. Like, HALF of what’s pictured up there. Then move the other half to a second panel with some slight movement and BOOM it’s even EASIER for people to read and keeps it interesting! YEAHHH
I also try to keep the panel flow visually interesting, even when it’s just two ponies talking. Move around your imaginary camera- imagine your comic is a movie. You’d get bored if someone is delivering a monologue and the camera never cuts away from the same boring medium-close up forevahhh. Personally I try to never stay in the same “shot” for more than 3 panels. Keep it varied, yo! Keeps it interesting.
I am Silver Tongue, I am an artist. I have many characters and you can check out my art in the art tag. I occasionally practice witchcraft though I don't do anything too complicated. I am girl 2 and don't know what else to put here.
