I ask, because certain types of people (very white, very insulated, very angry people with a need to crap on someone less powerful than themselves) have been belching up that pathetic claim since before I was born. Being an optimistic person, I’d like to give you bigots the benefit of the doubt and assume you could think of something new after 34 years.

Honestly, I’ve heard more stories of doctors using trans women to perpetuate that idea.
“Why are you wearing jeans?” “… They’re comfortable.” “That’s not very womanly of you.” “What? No, my clothing doesn’t define my identity.” “I’m sorry you feel that way. Maybe you don’t really need hormones…” “NO, WAIT! HAHA! DRESSES, SEE? AND MAKE-UP! AND PINK! AND… (shudder) …I like guys…”

Ha! God yeah, I still remember the very first therapist I saw, the one my mother made me see after I came out to her. He was repulsed that I didn’t like dresses and didn’t want to be a homemaker and didn’t want to marry a man, and spent two hours a week lecturing me about how I wasn’t really a woman.
Sort of funny how the patriarchy forces those roles on trans women, trans women reject them, and then along come these gynosaurs to yell at us for ever being associated with those roles. It’s almost like old white men and TERFs use the same playbook.
Late last year I saw a psychiatrist to get a referral letter.
Very first question she asked me; “what feminine activities did you partake in as a child to lead you to believe you’re a woman?”
I wish I could have answered “giant robots, explosions, and pretty girls kicking butt.”
But you know how it is; there’s a game you have to play, and it’s a game designed to never let us win.
I was denied oestrogens entirely because I was not dressed the way my gender therapist wanted me to dress. She prioritised my physical appearance (what, women are not allowed to wear a hoody with jeans?) over my mental desire, my mental position, my mental everything.
Appealing to my therapist in whatever way she has cemented in her mind how women should behave and dress is daunting, exhausting, and degrading.
So, yeah, anon’s comment will be forever bullshit.
I’ve had multiple conversations lasting longer than ten minutes with doctors about what “trans lesbian” means. One part of one conversation with a neurologist who was treating me for something entirely unrelated to gender went like this:
Him: So you’re a transsexual woman and you’re attracted to women? Me: yes, and I prefer “transgender” Him: But you’re not *only* attracted to women. Me: I’m not attracted to men Him: Were you like this as a child? Me: yes Him: But as an adolescent? Me: yes Him: Sexually? Me: yes Him: Really? Me: yes
Et cetera. Please remember this was a doctor gatekeeping me for something completely unrelated to my gender or sexuality at all. So yeah, it’s definitely us reinforcing the rules of femininity.
