the play actually went well last night and i got a lot of people (primarily old people) telling me “I LIKE YOUR SPUNK” but since it’s a murder mystery during the scene where we find out the guy is dead the detective didn’t know his lines so i tried to improvise by saying “YOURE A NURSE! DO SOMETHING!” to the nurse and she looked at me and yelled “HES DEAD!!” and it’s revealed later the murderer spills red candle wax on him and this girl was like “what are those drops? it doesn’t look like blood” and i yelled “WHAT ELSE WOULD IT BE? KOOLAID?” and i was laughing the entire time F 😢👊
the other day i was perusing the dessert options in the dining hall and this group of absolute stereotypical frat boy types were also milling around the desserts and one of them pointed to the strawberry pastries and said to the others “what’s the vibe with these, boys?” and i haven’t been able to get that sentence out of my head since
Ok so maybe I’m reading too far into this, but, the first rule of using any kind of gun is that the finger only goes over the trigger when a person intends to shoot. I’ve had it drilled into me that even while aiming a gun my index finger goes on the space above the trigger. Absolutely, under no circumstances, does a person put their finger on the trigger until they’re ready to pull it.
Which means in this scene, Riza completely intends to shoot Roy. She didn’t put up and aim her gun for show. She’s about to pull the trigger and kill him.
you are absolutely not reading too far into it.
if you go through other scenes where characters are holding guns, the animators have in fact shown them practicing trigger discipline when they’re not (or no longer) ready to shoot.
here we see riza ready her trigger finger when she aims at scar,
only to disengage the moment edward elbows her out of the way:
here she has her trigger finger ready for gluttony, but once she identified that she was aiming her other gun at allies, she disengaged:
i will say that i personally think there are many moments where characters have their fingers on the trigger when they really shouldn’t yet (including the above screenshot of edward elbowing riza, in my opinion). but, these are animators not gun experts, and the characters are in fact aiming at targets they’re willing to destroy in every instance of what i’d argue is poor trigger discipline.
in conclusion, for riza to be aiming at roy with her finger on the trigger when we have numerous instances of characters holding guns with proper trigger discipline is 100% intentional, and appears in the manga the same way:
Can someone who’s into SPN PLEASE explain this? Preferably on this post so my inbox/dms aren’t getting blown up for the next three days?
This has been all over my dash tonight and I’m so confused.
@prismatic-bell I don’t know if I have the lay of the land accurate - though I might have followers who do! But this is my very rough understanding of things:
Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles co-star in Supernatural for 15 years, during which time Jared Padalecki was generally and increasingly unpleasant, including: physical assault (up to and including, arrest), bribery, racism. He owns a MLM, and I can’t find a better citation, but there’s community rumblings about inappropriate touching of other cast members.
The tl;dr I’m reaching here is he seems like a pretty meh colleague.
Supernatural finishes abruptly and speculatively because Padalecki is interested in a reboot of the Texas Walker.
Jensen Ackles states he would have happily continued playing his character and after the series concludes, states intentions to work further in the Supernatural universe.
Jensen Ackles turned down offers from Padalecki to star in the Texas Walker reboot, as well as offers to appear as a guest or direct an episode.
Padalecki starts working on Texas Walker, cast as lead. Its previews and premieres go attrociously and it is not well-received.
Jensen Ackles announces a prequel series to Supernatural right before something happens with the Texas Walker show. This is a project he planned in discussions other members of the various team involved in Supernatural, notably including: Robbie Thompson, Eric Kripke, Misha Collins. These people congratulate and hype Ackles.
The prequel series is not well-received by the fandom, because it centers a disliked character, theme and honestly, just,, nah.
Jared Padalecki proceeds to tweet that he is happy for Ackles’ project, but wishes he could have found out about it not through public sources. He further adds his dismay that his character was not included in this prequel. He says that he is gutted.
Robbie Thompson posts a positive tweet about the SPNFamily, very generic. Padalecki replies with et tu brute tweet as above and then deletes it. He also unfollows, refollows, unfollows his former colleagues and stuff like that.
Padalecki’s response to the situation acts as heat sink to the hatred of the prequel project’s announcement, which isn’t even lit for a pilot yet for real. All this over a twinkle in a producer’s eye.
So, my ken of the situation is show ended with Padalecki having alienated most people involved, the rest of the crew and cast started work on other projects and deliberately didn’t involve Padalecki, who is now having a very public reaction to it, which might have something to do with his own failing show, and ironically, helps beat the dead horse.
……..
………..WOW.
if anyone is interested, i summarized in this post why the hate for jared has intensified so greatly since the finale, and if you go back through my jared tag you can find the receipts for it.
another layer to all of this is that the cw apparently fucked over both jensen and misha (and dean/cas in the process) in regards to the ending of spn in order to center jared for walker, and jared apparently allowed this to happen, fucking over his “friends”. he made some pretty horrible comments indicating that dean’s sudden death was a “success story” because it allowed sam to go live a normal life free of the burden of his (often suicidal) brother. they also completely ditched sam’s love interest, eileen, who was a Deaf woman, in favor of a faceless woman seen in the distance, and jared approved of this too.
he also seems to be a pretty shitty father to his three young children, openly admitting that he can only stand taking care of them for 20 minutes before dumping them back on his wife, and complaining that he doesn’t know how to play with them or he doesn’t want to play with them outside in the heat.
and then there’s also the racist, bootlicking nature of his walker show, the whole point of which is to romanticize the ~conflict~ of being a cop whose duty is at war with his humanity. 🙄
fans have been speculating for MONTHS about a “j2 fallout theory” because of how they have been acting, and we’ve been going wild because this whole thing confirms it. it has really seemed like jensen was pissed off, for the following reasons:
he did nothing to promote the finale or even ACKNOWLEDGE it on social media, did nothing like ‘congratulating’ his costar on the end of their 15 year show together. he and misha were both left out of the cw’s ‘thank you and goodbye’ twitter video.
he was completely silent on social media for something like 3 months, and his only recent likes had to do with the third-to-last spn episode, which was misha’s last episode and the infamous nov 5th episode where destiel went canon. his first like/comment after 2 or 3 months had to do with that episode as well.
in online panels, jensen was animated and excited when talking about the destiel episode, but flat and miserable-looking when talking about the finale. we know from old conventions that this is not the ending he wanted for dean.
jensen and jared were once so close that they bought neighboring houses in austin to raise their kids together, but not long after the finale jensen up and fucked off to the mountains in colorado with his whole family. despite the fact that they have a brewery in austin, to my knowledge they’ve been living in colorado for a good six months while jared films walker in texas.
jared did not acknowledge jensen’s birthday in march.
jensen made one little perfunctory tweet promoting the premiere of walker, but it wasn’t exactly enthusiastic.
jared said that he wanted jensen to star in walker, and after jensen said no, obliviously blathered on about how he was “blowing up jensen’s phone” and that he was going to drag him “kicking and screaming” to either guest star or direct an episode. jensen has said NOTHING.
what compounds this is that jensen famously loves cowboys and dressing up as cowboys. in theory, dressing up as a cowboy and playing around with, ostensibly, his best friend should be a no brainer.
so THEN jensen drops this bomb that he’s planned out a prequel - announcing it on twitter THIRTY MINUTES before walker is set to air on tv!! - without it ever reaching jared’s ears. which, considering the number of people that must have been in discussion, seems like it had to have been a deliberate slight rather than an accident.
also, robbie thompson is one of the more beloved of spn writers, and he left the show after s11. according to the prequel announcement, robbie has been tapped as the head writer of the prequel, therefore the vitriol jared spewed in his direction makes me inclined to think that he tried to get robbie to write for walker and was again turned down.
so all of this to say: this has been a long time coming, confirmed a lot of our speculations, and the asshole deserves every minute of it. ✌
I just wanted to sort of gently tune the dial in a bit more on some aspects of the story so that there’s a bit more detail…
There’s also the fact that Jensen HAD dealt with prissy insufferable “golden boys” before who got him written out of a series out of jealousy and like a fucking pro, he remained silent (check the whole Dark Angel drama for that) so he wasn’t going to let that happen to Misha (I didn’t know about the s2 fight but it makes a lot of sense)
And also: the Osiric thing wasn’t an “accident” in the sense that Osiric didn’t know how to defend himself. Dude is a trained stunt and martial artist BEFORE being an actor and Everyone had told JP that horsing around was dangerous. While Osiric obviously didn’t want to hurt JP and apologized profoundly, what happened was the result of a trained fighter defending himself from a bully who was used to use his size to win fights.
Oh, for sure - the stuff that I’ve heard about happening to Jensen during his stint on Dark Angel was just beyond shameful. Michael Weatherly and Jessica Alba have both individually apologized to Jensen since, but it doesn’t change the fact that Michael Weatherly was a ginormous dickbag to Jensen out of nothing more than insecurity and gross macho posturing. How sad that Jensen got looped into doing another show with a shithead just like Weatherly who felt like he had just so much he wanted to prove but no character to prove it with.
And when I say ‘accidentally’, I don’t mean Osric was being negligent or anything - quite the opposite. Jared was the one who put him in a dangerous situation acting like a bull in a china shop, like he so often does. Osric used his skills to keep himself from getting seriously hurt and it just had the side-effect of resulting in Jared’s shoulder getting hurt in the process. Osric knows his stuff, but like you said - this was a case of JP trying to use his size against Osric and it wound up backfiring on his ass hugely, because Os actually knows how to defend himself properly.
This is genuinely the greatest thread of all time in a world full of unearned JP worship and I respect the hell out y’all for compiling.
Encourage anyone reading along to click the links and get the full picture.
As I have said for a long time, JP may love Sam, but Sam wouldn’t want anything to do with his actor.
September 22 2020 - A Hillsboro man convicted to 6 months for drug possession managed to make his escape from the courthouse. A cop trying to stop him gave himself broken ribs and a concussion and had to be taken to hospital, while the hero of our story managed a clean getaway and is still on the loose. [video]
I’ve watched this over and over again and I laugh every time
I’m still trying to figure out what he was hoping to achieve by diving headfirst over the banister like that.
Bold of you to assume cops have any thought process other than “im a cool action hero”
Rolling down the stairs like a fucking slab of ham lmao
