Silver Tongue

One of my favourite tropes is when a villain gets amnesia for a bit and becomes a good guy fora while.

New tag!

I realized that I talk about tropes a lot so I’m introducing a new tag.

Trope talk.

Basically my thoughts regarding various tropes.

You know what tropes i always found annoying?

When someone gives much needed exposition after its too late. Like, yeah that information would have been useful earlier but now it’s just annoying because they could prevented everything. It’s even worse when one of the main characters knew the entire time and just didn’t say anything because either they are a complete twat or they are just a fucking dumbass.

No matter what anyone says, witholding the truth is considered lying.

My theory:

It’s a video game.

well i mean, the connections to mother are because Toby based the game on it, made mods for it, and his returning song “Megalovania” was originally in one of those mods. so, not as far fetched as some would think.

That reminds me of high school English class where the teacher would say everything is symbolism and a metaphor. I’m aware they’re just theories, but most of the time, it’s just been loose connections based on very few common factors.

“It looks and sounds like this, therefore it’s that.”

And if it is?

That depends on if the author admits birds are a symbol of death and freedom when they’re really birds in the book.

Something even bigger is that both Nintendo and TobyFox would have to come forward and say “Yes, Ness is Sans.”

Let’s be honest, this new Game theory sounds more like Game Headcanon.

That’s what I thought it was front the start.

I’m gonna make a parody series, “Sane Theory,” a thing now.

Gonna script it, then Sony Vegas it.

After a couple voice reels and commissions first. :3

Honestly, it feels like matpat is trying to make his undertale theories comparable to his fnaf theories. Like, sans being gasters assistant is much more plausible than him being ness.

Conjecture that makes less sense than a plausibility annoys me.

Something else to add to my original post is this retweet by Toby himself.

So yeeeaaaah, more or less.

This is why I referred to the high school teacher who will say a flower written in a book symbolizes the atomic bomb in a toilet used by the president.

Clearer example: Claiming my changeling is Twilight Sparkle in disguise because he’s based on the show.

It’s like saying inspiration is grounds for theorizing a definitive connection.

I haven’t looked at the video, and here’s why: It’s clickbait.

If I told you I had a theory that Toriel is the main villain, and, in this case, is Giygas, would you click?

You know, if these “Game Theories” are just for fun, why bother making the thumbnail and title DEFINITIVE STATEMENTS if you’re only looking to explain a THEORY as a possibility?

“You’re a murderer! …But I’ll just say that’s a theory in the video only.”

Shock and buzz, and reel them in. They’re theories, but done through marketing. Not saying that’s wrong, but Matpat is making it obvious.

Works the same way as making commentary on viral videos. Grabbing media attention while it’s hot and riding its coattails.

I did take the time to watch it, and it actually talks about that stuff, but from a version of it that Toby Fox did. he did his own Earthbound mod, we all know that, and this video is talking about how sans could be related to that mod as an alternate timeline.

Do you realize how vague that sounds?

“They made a fanmod of that one game, therefore ‘this’ original character is maybe an alternate version because of these following possibly inconclusive reasons.”

It’s the epitome of poes law

Didn’t Toby actually say that Undertale was originally supposed to be a sequel to his Mod?

Fuck no. he hates teh hack.
