The best explanation I’ve heard so far for why R2 only woke up at the end, is that he actually does start booting up when BB8 first finds him; he just has to get through 10 years worth of updates before that.

I aint saying the Sith are good guys, they do bad shit as well, but let’s look at history on the other side of things.

Not to mention the continuous mind-fucking of anyone they need to trick. Jedi legitimately are A-okay with manipulating the free will of others to achieve their means.
Not sure if this has any sort of connection aside from also being a Star Wars IP, but in Star Wars: The Old Republic, Jedi decisions are marked as Good, and Sith choices are marked as Bad.
But there’s one character who starts to understand this arbitrary divide between Sith and Jedi. Ashara Zavros. She’s a Jedi Padawan that gets taken in by the Sith Inquisitor player character. If you’re playing as a light-leaning Sith, she starts to gain an understanding of both sides of the Force. By the time you’re near the end of the game, she tells you that “I feel more at one with the Force than I’ve ever felt. I have peace like the Jedi speak of, and freedom like the Sith.“
Her storyline was the first thing to ever get me to question the need for emotional suppression in order to be a fully good Jedi, or the need to be a raging, hate filled monster to be Sith.
The issue of bringing balance to the force, Anakin did do just that. He did so by destroying both the Jedi and the Sith. Luke is not actually a Jedi, he’s more neutral. He uses both light side and dark side tactics. What he teaches is control without losing your freedom. He teaches how to use the force for good. That is why there is now balance in the force
