I totally think Amethyst has a soft spot for animals.
I mean, look at how she acts towards Lion. When Steven makes him say “I love you”, she says “I love you too.” And then she hugged him in “Ocean Gem”.
This is definitely jumping to conclusions but I think Amethyst loves animals.
