I have an answer! Doc Brown did not commit suicide, but he was committed into a psychiatric ward, meaning he was still alive in the timeline.

The way time travel works is that timeline splits are caused by one version of a person messing with the past.
In OoT there is only one link. He starts as a child and grows into an adult but that same link then goes back after defeating ganon to stop ganon before his rise to power. Just one link
But the official timeline says there’s two. The link you play and a link who dies. This is where it stops being a timeline.
In OoT, there is only one link. Kid link and adult link are the same person. The same link just older/younger. He cannot both die before stopping ganon AND stop ganon twice.

Okay, so usually right before Bill appears, the people entering his black-and-white dreamscape zone close their eyes, showing that they’ve fallen asleep and gone into a Bill-controlled dream.
So isn’t it odd that Dipper didn’t close his eyes when the black and white zone went off and Bill appeared, but instead just a few moments before? It was after he shut his eyes that the laptop told him there were too many failed attempts.
