LIghthouse keepers will never be memorialized like soldiers or cops because they didn’t kill anyone (as part of their job) but they’re like, heroes who saved untold lives through discipline and self-sacrifice doing an impossible lonely job and I’m worked up about it
Clinging to a swaying tower in freezing, driving rain, risking death by everything from pneumonia to a fall to a fucking lightning strike to keep the lantern going when you don’t even KNOW if someone is out on the water!! Working! Class! Heroes!

The next two drawings show Taako from Petals to the Metal. In the first his arms are crossed, he’s wearing light grey shorts and a white tank top, with a black scarf and a large black wizard hat. He had tights on and is wearing black boots, the umbrastaff at his side. The next shows him wearing a mongoose mask, his scarf gone and his hair slightly mused. He’s holding the hat in one hand, and holding the umbrastaff over his shoulder.
The next shows him from Eleventh Hour. He’s wearing a black skirt with a crop top and a sheer black wrap around his shoulders. He has dark sunglasses on, a large black wizard hat and tall brown boots. He’s holding a large diamond in one hand.
The last two drawings show Taako from The Suffering Game. He’s in the same post in each, the second drawing done in sepia tones. He’s wearing a short black bodysuit with a sheer, shimmering blue cloak over top and a red boa around his shoulders. He has a black glove on, and his hair is worn loose with a small braid down the side. He has tall black boots with a red trim, and an intense look of concentration on his face. [end ID]
Fun fact: the guys at our college’s geology department prop out the doors with their samples. I totally understand why but as someone whose work with samples is necessarily super delicate and sterile it fucks me up so bad
lol idk if you watch nautilus live at all but watching them process bio & geo samples side by side evokes exactly this Thing (the descriptions are gold too… “here are the 30 steps we use to preserve bio samples, and as for rocks, well, we let them dry, bag them, & put them in the Rock Box)

in my own experience with geology most precautions with samples are to preserve the life and safety of the geologist, most of the rocks are fine.
i am continually reminded of one of my colleagues, who wanted to collect a sample of gypsum on a field excursion but was too lazy to take off his backpack and get his rock hammer. so he said “eh, it’s soft enough” just fucking punched the rock until a piece fell off like it was fucking minecraft
