Okay, look here, @a-spoopy-mod, just because the concept has been around longer than the holocaust does NOT mean it’s sudenly excused to call something genocide when the creator of it doen’t want holocaust jokes being made.
Except the creator never said not to use it and it IS the proper terminology seeing as in the run, you kill as many monsters as the game will allow. In that run, you ARE committing genocide. And it’s not suddenly calling it a genocide run because it was called genocide run ever since people figured out the run existed. Doing a genocide run and calling it a genocide run wasn’t what pissed off the person in the stream that caused them to start the rumor that toby said not to call it genocide, what offended the person in the stream was the fact that the streamer named the character “Hitler” in combination to the genocide run. Genocide in general is not a reference to the holocause, it means attempting to wipe out an entire group of people. Did you know that the colonials committed genocide when wiping out the native americans? Is calling it a genocide run also offensive to native americans today?
@tamberella and I were talking about this today when she posted pics of some of her T collection, someone posted the inevitable “kill it with fire” comment that so many invert keepers get. So I felt the need to make this and hopefully get this idea through the thick skulls of people who say this shit.
It doesn’t matter if you’re phobic, you have a personal vendetta against all creepy crawlies or you’re just trying to be an asshole. It’s not funny, it’s not okay. You’d never say this to someone who had a conventional pet like a dog, cat, bird or small mammal, so what makes it okay to say that to us?
It’s fucking awful to hear that towards something you hold very dear. Simple and plain hatred towards a living creature you haven’t bothered to educate yourself on just makes you seem ignorant. So stop saying this, you’re unoriginal and unfunny.
*note: I have nothing against arachnophobics who just want to avoid SEEING spiders, but never say this kind of stuff to a tarantula owner, your phobia doesn’t give you an excuse to be a jerk.

I disagree. The makeup is clearly reflective of traditional Geisha makeup which is yellowface and therefore racist. Furthermore, the girl is wearing a kimono, a garment that has for ages carried cultural significance. Assuming that she is white how can you think this is ok? And cultural appropriation isn’t a thing? What rock do you live under? I suggest you educate yourself on the differences between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation.
I am japanese, in japan at this very moment. The only people who think culture shouldnt be shared are racists like you.
A vast majority of Japanese people actually enjoy other people making an effort to spread and enjoy japanese culture, and encourage it. Many make businesses in deliberately taking pictures of people in kimono. A common omiage (gift) for foreigners from japanese people is traditional japanese things such as kimonos, tea seats, shisa dog statues, ect.
And to top it off, basically 80 percent of japanese customs, traditions, and food, came from other countries. Japanese is an integration of different cultures, like america. Japan takes influences from places like korea, china, russia, and europe. If japan stuck to itself, there would be no tempura, japanese tea, tea ceremonies, kabuki, japanese bread, japanese curry, j- pop, anime, cars, or modern fishing techniques. The picture is not “yellow face” they are not making fun of asians. In fact, it looks like they put extra care and research into their work.
The only reason that you have a problem with this is because that little girl is white and you know that it is acceptable on tumblr to crap all over white people. The only racist here is you.

Just a reminder, you can dislike a character while loving them AS a character.
