This is from an email where a client’s outlines their idea for a CD cover design:
Client: The cover Should be a muscular skunk devil pimp like creature throwing accusations of your past crazy life but a glowing peace around the person because they are not what they use to be. I saw a good example on Deviant Art, but That’s not quite it. don’t want female with T and A so all viewers may not get offended.
I recently started to help a local company to help modernise their staff HR material. As part of the project, we decided to make employee training resources digital rather than physical. The Client wanted them to be an online flipbook with embedded video, tutorial animations, and all the bells and whistles.
To do this, we needed a licence for the flip book software that would allow us to distribute the online book and embed the content. My client had the idea that we were working with some simple animation software that would enable us to make promotional videos. We weren’t sure where she got this idea (and why she held on to it, even though we corrected her every day for two weeks). This recent exchange may have helped me to figure it out, though.
Client: So when will we be able to launch this project?
Me: Well, as I mentioned before we can’t launch it until we get the licence. We can’t export from this free version.
Client: I don’t understand. So why can’t we do this? Are we waiting for the animation? Is that why?
Me: No, the software doesn’t make “animations.” It puts our materials into a flipbook format, and we need the license to export the file to the format we need. Any animations you want on top of turning pages will have to be added after.
Client: But when we get that we are ready to go, it will do the animation for us?
Me: No, it won’t add any animation for us. Production of any animations you want to include hasn’t started as the only instructions you’ve given us is that there should be one. There’s been no discussion of what the animation needs to include or what it’s of and even when that is sorted out it could take days or weeks to produce.
Client: Animation must not be your strong suit. My daughter took a picture of me, uploaded it to a site and did an animation of me dancing in a few minutes. It was incredible.
I guess uploading a photo to Jib Jab makes you a professional animator.
How to spot a ‘fake’ gamer
- Frequently pronounces video games as “Blideo Bames”
- Will often say “I need help passing this level it’s really hard” then when you look at their screen it’s running Microsoft Excel 2007
- They invite you over to their place to check out their game collection and it’s just every season of Frasier (still impressive)
- Their Xbox One is actually a series of tissue boxes glued together with the word “NINTEMDO” painted over it
- When you ask their favourite video game they respond by doing a series of skillful backflips, temporarily distracting you from having asked the question in the first place
- Keeps a secret diary with “I HATE VIDEO GAMES AND I NEVER PLAY THEM” written on every page

Pretty poor writing when they say the actor is leaving after the season and has an anti-climactic “death” in the first episode. For the Master, I expect it because he’s the Master, but of course Moffat sucks at making consistent characters further than an episode.
I feel nothing for Clara.
“You lied to me. You owe me.”
You lied all last season, Clara, with a cardboard boyfriend that died for a plot device where somehow he was the only person with enough will to be a human cyberman, and now she’s acting like she has the Doctor on a leash when she’s the puppy.
Victorian Clara at least seemed real.
The only good takeaways from 12′s era is 12th Doctor and Missy.
Moffat’s too repetitive and mediocre.
