This is something I have been having on my head for the longest time, and I know some are going to shout and go “Fanboy!” and “White Knight”, but that doesn’t really matter at this point.

For the longest time, I’ve rolled my eyes at how people still give drawponies shit over the tracing scandal. And no, I’m not saying he had a right to trace art and sell it, but I do feel he’s gone through enough as it his. The worst that someone can endure is having their reputation tarnished, and that’s what happened to him. His reputation is pretty much stained because of the scandal so obviously some people are going to be weary of his art, not to mention he was banned from a convention for that same reason.

Despite people moving on and even drawponies showing improvement over his art, there are still some people that can’t get over the scandal. It’s pretty annoying for someone to go comment on his deviantart/Facebook page without someone butting in and going “HE’S A TRACER!!”, especially on his deviantart page. It’s to the point where it feels some people just spam him over the scandal just because it’s cool/funny since everyone began calling him “Traceponies” after he was exposed.

It kinda is sad that some people have to remind Drawponies of his fucked up mistake and people want him to be punished more than he already has endured. And to clarify again to those who will go ‘FAN BOY!“ or “WHITE KNIGHT”, I’m not condoning of what he did is a good thing, it’s the worst thing an artist can do, but I’m pretty sure having your reputation stained with the idea you’ve traced your art and then sold it and being banned from a convention shows you’ve suffered enough. Even for those who feel “He should be punished because his apology is shat”.

Maybe it’s my morals of giving people second chances clouding my judgement, but I just believe that drawponies should be left alone because I’m pretty sure he doesn’t need to be reminded every day on what he did by having people constantly snark “TRACEPONIES!” every time.

Plus knowing this confession will still be labeled “WHITE KNIGHT FANBOY” because internet.

It’s almost like when someone makes a shit ton of money out of lies and cheating and finally get caught, they lose all credibility and people don’t trust them.

I’m trying my hand at my very favorite meme ever: Telling the story behind a GIF.

Throwback Thursday. Remember when I was like, “lol I’ll probably make a couple of these and get bored”?

clientsfromhell:

A client shoots me an email, asking for a quote to record a live music gig and put the footage together with mastered audio for three of the songs they have on their EP. They need four cameras and operators, someone to mix the recorded audio, and me to piece it all together. I give them a reasonable quote.

They turn me down and instead tell me that they have friends that can do it for a beer. I wish them luck.

Two weeks later, I get a panicked email telling me that all the footage and audio is terrible. They ask for a consult on how to fix it. The audio is unsalvageable (peaking at a dB level in the positive), and the video is poorly framed at best, or missing at worst. They didn’t realise some cameras will only record 20-minute blocks.

They beg me to do something with it, saying money is no object.  I take the footage, apply colour grading and Super-8 filters to make it look like it’s intentionally bad, and add the audio from their EP to the footage. The end result is actually really good and looks like they intended to do it all the time.

I wind up charging them the exact amount I quoted to start with, only without doing most of the work.

All this thing about popular artists makes me think they kinda like themselves. Well, not exactly, but I personally hate artists who don’t reply to comments they get, even if they got time to. I once commented to an artwork of a popular artist and when they replied to me, I noticed they were sweet, nice and quite kind. Next time I’d better think twice before judging people.

yes because people are sooo mean because they wont respond to one little random stranger on the internet when they get contacted by hundreds if not thousands every single day

they’re so mean for not giving you their undivided attention

it’s not like they’re just normal people who happen to have a talent that a lot of people like

no

they’re fucking egotistical gods among men who scoff down on the lower world

why the fuck are people so deadset on this concept and why do you think artists turn bitter over time?

Because of shit like this.

Wow Jitters…… You know, it doesn’t hurt to say “Thank you” to the comments that say your art looks great. It lets your followers know that you’re reading the comments and not just posting and ignoring them.

He does, but you’re right, the poster is required to answer every single comment they get, no matter how many! :D

Okay, this is where I get in a “Dunno if he’s helping me or not” territory, yes an artist has a life, but saying thank you, taking or even at least just dedicate a post to all of these fans is always important.

You know why people like Somecallmejohnny don’t get any flack for their works? Because he always takes the chances to thank amd talk with his fans individually

So yeah, be a dipshit, all you want, but thank the people who get you where you are because thanks to them YOU LIVE

This is the not helping kind of post.

Have you not seen how many times we always say thank you in art, blog, video, or in some way to a comment we get?

Let me guess, it’ll only be okay if we respond to everything constantly, no lesser degree or any prior thank yous will suffice.

I’m gonna skip the part about you comparing people because that’s disrespectful. “He doesn’t get that because he does this, despite you perhaps doing the personal equivalent.”

“So yeah, be a dipshit, all you want, but thank the people who get you where you are because thanks to them YOU LIVE”

Here are some corrections for you for what you should have said:

1. Be respectful.

2. Feel comfortable being who you are.

3. You are not obligated to please everybody. That includes catering to all fans.

4. You live because you stay strong enough to not give up.

And from me,

DON’T ACT LIKE A DIPSHIT BECAUSE YOU’LL GET TREATED LIKE A DIPSHIT.

If jitters catered to the fans, Ditzy would be in an abusive relationship with dissy, warden would never have met her and aero would never have been born. Remember, fans rarely know what’s best for your story. Only the writers do.

The interesting thing about Glados/HAL 9000 parallels is that

Hal was conceived at a time when artificial intelligence was more of a fictional construct than a practical possibility. Hal is introduced as humanlike because the audience is familiar with and comfortable with humans, but they aren’t familiar with or comfortable with living computers. It’s when he starts acting robotic and calculated that the audience realizes “oh no, he’s a computer” and he becomes threatening.

By the time Glados was conceived, we had become used to computer automated systems. Synthetic voices offering us information is something we encounter in daily life. Glados is introduced as a computerized preprogrammed voice because that’s what the audience is familiar and comfortable with. It’s when she starts acting human and emotional that the audience realizes “oh no, she’s alive” and she becomes threatening.

aspect-rei said: the manga is always better :)

-Wolf’s Rain

-Princess Tutu

Trust me

The anime is way better.

Also Attack on Titan is better in an animated format I feel since it has so much action going on.

Wolf’s Rain was an awesome anime first. The manga was a short-changed version of it.

Full metal alchemist had a decent story for not being based off of the manga at all. But brotherhood is still better.
