Starting to dislike/realize the flaws in Harry Potter feels like waking up from the trance of a fairy king.

The smile slowly fades from your face as you step out of the circle of mushrooms, asking yourself “Did Joanne really win awards for this level of writing?” The glassy look begins to vanish from your eyes as you think, “Why did Cho Chang get constantly berated by the narration for grieving her graphically murdered dead boyfriend?” You remove your flower crown and hold it in shaking hands as you ask yourself “Were we all just fine and dandy when Jay Kay Ar decided that one of the four houses at her wizarding school was founded by a faux white supremacist and was also FULL of eleven-year-olds who were forcibly designated as white supremacists?” The sky grows darker. You remember the Tolkien plagiarism. You remember the house elves. You remember the banker goblins. You begin to run—

#SQUAD GOALS

@paperbagrosie

This is like a study in how many expressions three characters can cram into a frame. The last gif is the story an entire life lived in a moment. This gifset describes a heroic journey. Jonathan is briefly wildly excited by the statue’s feet before resigning himself to his fate. Ardeth’s instant transition from drama to annoyance when Rick lights a match on his beard is highly relatable. why did Rick stop the action just to strike a match on a friend’s rugged jaw. how fantastic are Ardeth’s robes. what are their faces doing in the last gif. is anyone in this film capable of doing anything at a normal level with any modicum of focus, or do they all stumble dramatically out of bed in the morning and pick a fight with the floor. Give me more disasters, that’s what I want. more relatable, distractible disasters. not a single one of them can focus on deadly dangers for more than a moment without being distracted by feet, jawlines, banter, books, swishing their clothes and grabbing each other. none of them can hold a torch properly.

‘or do they all stumble dramatically out of bed in the morning and pick a fight with the floor‘ – this question sums up so many of my favorite chaotic dumbass heroes!

I have to say I really appreciate how Into the Spider-Verse makes no effort whatsoever to give Dr. Octavius any kind of pathos. Superhero media so often goes out of its way to establish that the main villain’s female sidekick – should one be present – has Suffered Terribly and how it’s totally Not Her Fault that she’s ended up the way she is, or at least give her a humanising moment of empathy with the protagonist, but nope. She’s just a big amoral jerk and no one likes her.

What I’m saying is that Olivia Octavius is the kind of mad scientist who would unironically respond to a hero’s horrified “what in God’s name?” by exclaiming “God had nothing to do with it!”, and I respect that.

She’s someone who was shown early on to know that snatching people from other universes causes them to painfully disintegrate, but at no point does she bother to tell Fisk this. ‘Cause she has (unspoken within the movie) motives outside of Fisk wanting his family back.

So she’s totally down with Fisk seeing his family die in front of him again (and again, and again) as long as it fits with her own goals..

I NEVER EVEN THOUGHT OF THAT.

He essentially bankrolled her entire project to steal his family from some alternate universe and Liv, knowing damn well they’d eventually disintegrate in this universe, was like “Yep, I’ll do my best, thank so much for your contribution”

cold fucking blooded.

her only perceivable motivation is science at any cost and i fucking love that

Yes. Before the sculptures were built, the land was sacredly owned by indigenous tribes. In 1980, the land was illegally taken away from them by the supreme court. Not to mention, one of the main people who manufactured the sculptures was literally apart of the KKK… So yeah.. they are more than welcome to flip off these so called “masterpieces”

Anyone know if this is true of false?

I literally…….provided sources…………..
