Every artist encountered kids/adults who ask for free art. “Can you draw my oc?” or “Can you draw me?” is a common “opener” for many kids who get in contact with me. Yet what happens when I say No? Here is the list of “counter arguments” that are supposed to change my No into Yes (writing these from my memory):
“But you are really good at art, it should be so easy for you to draw something for me.”
“But you draw things all the time, whats the big deal if you draw something for me?!”
“When people ask me to draw them something I do it because it is a nice thing to do and I think that everyone should do this because you can make someone happy.”
“But it is only 10 minutes of your time!“
“I see, people never draw my ocs and I just wanted it to be drawn at least once for a change.”
“I see, I was feeling down today/had a birthday/lost a friend and I was thinking that you could cheer me up.”
And most commonly used: “No? Why?”
Yeah, the birthday one tends to pop up from time to time. People will randomly go “It’s my birthday today/tomorrow/in a few days.”
the worst part is when you announce that you opened commissions and then people are like “are they free commission?” like what the fuck?
It’s always Pearl because this meme is structured around a very common comedy trope (which TV Tropes calls ‘The Triple’) which is to list two normal things and then follow it up with a third random or humorous thing. You need to save the joke for last or else it doesn’t work as well and if you have too many or too few examples beforehand it just kind of kills the impact, so the magic number for the joke to work is 3 and since Pearl is listed third she’s always the one replaced with the joke
Meme Science.
It’s even funnier because steven is actually last but isn’t done because it wouldn’t flow as well
I’m really tired of people acting like MLK was a literal savior that willingly chose to die. He wasn’t a biblical deity, he was a man who was assassinated while in the midst of his revolution fighting for racial equality. MLK didn’t die for peace, he died because he was brutally murdered. He was tailed by the government. He was consistently incarcerated. He was the victim of violence all throughout his activism leading to his death. So don’t let anyone tell you MLK “died for peace” as a way of silencing you, he didn’t die for anything, he didn’t choose his death to make his activism more potent. He died while radically fighting for racial justice in an unprecedented manner. The implication that MLK chose to be a martyr is an insult to his memory.
I am Silver Tongue, I am an artist. I have many characters and you can check out my art in the art tag. I occasionally practice witchcraft though I don't do anything too complicated. I am girl 2 and don't know what else to put here.
