Because I finished rewatching AtLA the other day.

I maintain that the life changing field trip has already happened, and that it was significantly more life changing than anybody had bargained for.

Let’s look at the facts:

• Toph had two daughters, at a relatively young age.
• They had different fathers, she did not stay with either man, and never talks about either partner after the fact.
• Her oldest daughter has sharp, narrow features and light skin, features more in line with those of Fire nation descent, rather than the round faces and wide eyes associated with the Earth kingdom

Let’s take a look at some photos:

There’s a resemblance there, both sides of the family have clearly got a lot of Toph in them, but you can see the major differences too, right?

Now let’s look at Zuko’s publicly acknowledged daughter, the new Firelord:

Not conclusive, not on it’s own… but uncanny, no? if you took the average of Suyin’s face and Izumi’s face, and aged it up a few years, it would look exactly like Lin.

Conclusion: Zuko and Toph ended up fucking at some point, then decided that it was a terrible idea and stopped. The police chief of republic city is secretly a princess (possibly the rightful Firelord? except she can’t firebend? is that a requirement?). Zuko knows nothing about any of this because there is no way he would have let things play out this way if he had any idea.
