I think the producers of the first Venom movie realized their success wasn’t in delivering a gritty superhero movie MCU was too scared to give people (critic reviews of the OG movie were terrible) but bumbling backwards into a rom-com that got every Venom fan talking.
They realized they needed to focus on the fans that watched the first movie en mass and realized people do see Eddie and Venom as a couple. So they gave us these domestic moments and Venom being good to friends and of course CHOCOLATE. Because they looked at the Venom fans and that is a prevalent topic.
This film might not be critically acclaimed, it might not have the greatest hero action ever but it’s already hit what the people most wanting to see the movie want. They are doubling down on us Venom fans rather than try to broaden the market. That alone will make me watch this movie
