It however does not cast Social Services in a bad light. Cobra Bubbles does a lot to try to keep Lilo in Nani’s custody and I hate how overlooked that is. He legit shows remorse when he does try to take Lilo, which he only did because of her very reasonibly alarming phone call and the destruction of their house. Point is they didn’t make social services into a heartless judgy entity
they actually made a good point about how a system originally designed to be consistent and fair can also lack the sensitivity and flexibility needed to deal with complex situations. this is shown both when Stitch is labeled a monster and when Nani is judged for not being able to earn a living and constantly watch Lilo at the same time. Neither happened because the people making the calls were cruel–Bubbles and the Grand Councilwoman seem to mean well, but both were expected to make judgments very quickly by their organizations… and both used loopholes to make kinder, fairer decisions for our heroes.
Let’s note that those decisions and loopholes included allowing Jamba and Pleakly to move in with Nani and Lilo, thus giving her some additional support (no matter how dubious) in maintaining the household and caring for Lilo.
People falling for Clickhole is even funnier than people falling for the Onion becuase Clickhole doesn’t even ATTEMPT to sound convincing like the Onion does.

au where jet doesn’t find out that zuko and iroh are fire nation and when he runs into the gaang he goes ‘oh by the way this is my new friend lee. we met on the ferry ride over here!’ and the gaang and zuko just like awkwardly stare at each other for a really long time
I love it
*in everyone’s minds*
Zuko: Maybe if I just keep up my persona, they’ll believe I’m someone else… Okay, that’s stupid, but what choice do I have?
Aang: …Maybe if we just pretend we’ve never met before he’ll stay nice and we can all keep the peace.
Katara: If he lifts one hand against us, I will freeze them both.
Sokka: Please be a coincidence. Please be a coincidence. Please be a coincidence. Please be a coinci-
Toph: Why is he so scared? Is he shy? Why is Katara so upset? Why is Aang freaking out? Why is Sokka so irritated? And now Jet’s freaking out.
Jet: Do- do they not like him? Do they not like him because he’s my friend? Do they still hate me? Do they hate him because of me? Lee looks like he’s about to pass out? Is he okay?
This needs to be a fic
ACTUALLY SCREAMING
Toph to Iroh: oh hey, you’re that really old guy who gave me tea once
My dad was telling me about something that he described as a “gun that put vaccines through my skin” when he was a kid and I looked it up and I think he’s talking about jet injectors
These things aren’t widely used anymore because if they’re not used correctly they can give some people infections but they used to be used in mass vaccinations.
Basically these things use pressure to get medication through your skin and into your fat and muscle layers underneath which… ouch but they work.
My dad says a couple of times during elementary school some med students and nurses showed up and they were all lined up on the playground and told to show their shoulders and the med students and nurses just locked and loaded these bad boys and pop pop pop pop pop a couple minutes later all the kids were vaccinated against whooping cough and they all went back to class with sore arms.
I don’t know why it’s funny to me. Probably because with the way my dad describes it he was clearly in that place when you’re a kid between like four and nine years old where something weird happens to you and you just move on from it. He was like seven and got hit with a vaccine gun with almost no explanation from the adults around him and went “okay well that was weird. Anyways, back to class.” Like wow. The weird shenanigans that you don’t think about till you’re well into adulthood. Like my dad is almost 60 and he’s just now remembering this now that all the covid vaccinations are going on.
Oh my god
fun fact the science behind these guns is why you should be very careful when working with hydraulics. if youre working with anything hydraulic and feel something that feels like a bee sting, immediately go to the hospital because it can get infected easily. the leak would look like just a single drop of water coming out but if you touch it, all the force will force the fluid into your body like the vaccine gun does.
