And Alex Hirsch has definitely been trying to put in LGBT stuff. In the original storyboards for the Love God's introduction scene, he sets that old lady up with another old lady. It didn't make it through, but he's definitely been trying.
You’re right! Here are the storyboards. Pasted below are the relevant ones.
Alex Hirsch got in an adorable lesbian old lady couple up to the storyboards before it got censored.
One day, Alex. One day.
I’d like to add a little more to this, if you don’t mind.
In the storyboards, we see the love god wearing this necklace:
The symbol on the necklace is a symbol often used in the trans* community; the symbol in the upper left is used to denote transgender/gender-variant people:
He’s seen wearing this necklace throughout the storyboards, including his first entrance:
However, in the end it did get censored:
As you can see, it got change to a necklace with two pendants, denoting only male and female:
Another example:
Yes, it did get censored, but I am amazed and delighted that people in the industry I want to work in are supportive and want to bring a positive, fun light to the LGBT+ community. It’s really awesome that Alex Hirsch and the team working on the show (i.e. Sabrina Cotugno, the board artist for this episode) had tried to make the LGBT+ community a part of Gravity Falls; thank you so much for that, Gravity Falls!
it’s okay, Alex, one or two more years of stunning success and Disney will be forced to bend to your will.
patience and persistence.
Alex will be able to get away with this soon enough because it’s the only show on disney that people watch and disney cannot afford to have it pulled.
a puppy or kitten is a 15-year commitment. this holiday season, don’t give one as a gift unless you know the person is ready for that. don’t give them to children who are going to get tired of it when it gets bigger. too many animals end up in the pound in january.
Happy birthday to Piet Mondrian, who was born in Amersfoort, Netherlands in 1872! Mondrian is best known as the creator of perhaps the most rigorously abstract paintings of the first half of the twentieth century. Working with only the most basic elements-straight lines and primary colors, he strove to create pure objective art that he believed would change the world.
America sucks. We have two parties to limit our choices because we have to choose between this one person who will do nothing and another person who will do nothing because schools don't do a good job of teaching kids that president has very little power and it's congress arguing that is the reason we are shit.

Well. Yeah.
I knew all that.
Why do you think the NL has like 12 different political parties, all with different goals, norms and values? As a result, they’re all relatively small compared to the US’ two goliaths of political parties, but that actually does a pretty good job of keeping the power-balance in check.
We got parties for just about everything. Democratic party, labour party, socialist party, party for animals, 50-plus party, you name it.
You’re not exactly a progressive but you’re not conservative either? Well, my friend, YOU GOT A FUCKING RAINBOW OF POLITICAL PARTIES TO CHOOSE FROM.
I am Silver Tongue, I am an artist. I have many characters and you can check out my art in the art tag. I occasionally practice witchcraft though I don't do anything too complicated. I am girl 2 and don't know what else to put here.
