Psychologists have discovered that while reading a book or story, people are prone to subconsciously adopt their behavior, thoughts, beliefs and internal responses to that of fictional characters as if they were their own.

Another issue I think is they give the exact wrong genre to people. It makes more sense I feel for a RPG fan to review and play RPG's. If a platformer or a shooter fan reviews a RPG, it doesn't seem fair as they may not understand what they are doing.

Well I can confirm that they put people who dont’ understand the genre in charge of the reviews. It’s really clear in character action game reviews where the person is like “waaa! this is too hard, the combat is confusing and the items are hard to use and take of points from the total score!”
