Deviantart literally has an option on whether or not the artist wants critiques and so does other websites. If a person never states that they want critique and they have the critique thing turned off, don’t fucking make assumptions that they want to.

There is a difference between criticism and being an asshole. Saying “your OC looks like shit and is cliche and you should stop” is being an asshole. saying “Your OC is not that appealing and the story has been done to death. Here are a few ways you can make it better” is criticism.
