okay so. for webkinz day (today) the game gave away to all players a prize box containing 25 kiwi medallions, 100 of which can be cashed in for a virtual kiwi pet. the problem is…. opening the box didn’t get rid of it. players were able to open their boxes over, and over, and over. some players adopted over 50 kiwis in a single night.
when ganz finally addressed the glitch at around noon, all hell broke loose. hundreds of accounts got banned for glitch abuse but nobody knows what the criteria was for being banned because some people who opened the box multiple times got banned and some didn’t. a ton of players who opened the box multiple times emailed ganz about the glitch to beg them not to ban their accounts. people scrambled to find ways to hide their ips in case ganz decided to ip block people with multiple accounts. it’s been absolute fucking chaos. I highly recommend just skimming some of the recent threads on the webkinz reddit page because it’s a disaster.
Psychology textbook diagrams never cease to amaze me
ok y'all this isn’t a psych textbook gaslighting you into thinking it’s normal and ok for your boss to yell at you, it’s specifically about understanding that other people’s treatment of you is usually more about them than you.
If your boss is pissy with you, it’s absolutely more healthy to understand that behavior as a reflection of his mental state rather than of your worth as an employee.
It’s not a psych textbook’s job to advise you how to improve your workplace or say what is/isn’t acceptable treatment by a boss. It’s an example of detaching your own self-worth from how other people treat you.

In fact, if you let yourself think of other people’s treatment as a reflection on YOU more than it is on THEM, it can prevent you from getting things done.
We have the same problem in big budget Hollywood filmmaking nowadays that Hayao Miyazaki pointed out in anime a few years back, namely that films are being made by the fanboys that grew up idolizing the original movies, and worse still planned and budgeted by corporate lawyers and producers who use think tanks to identify what they think audiences want in films, and as a result you get overwrought and convoluted twaddle that makes us normal people pine for the old standard
