No, you’d NEVER EVER, EVER, EVER give those ‘lazy artists’ money! [warning, NSFW links above]

For my followers who don’t know, http://thatfancypone.tumblr.com/ has been criticizing people who commission artists. They claim that people shouldn’t spend it [their money] on something so irrelevant”. They justify this claim with most people can’t get a job and the ones that do end up getting some dead-end job”. So this person is saying that because some people can’t get jobs, artists don’t deserve money. Umm, okay? Makes sense? You’d think that people finding other ways to finance themselves during a time of financial hardship would be a good thing, but apparently not according to thatfancypone!

People who commission artists are the life-blood of the art community. They make it possible for artists to continue producing art and having a roof over their heads, or having something to eat, or even just having extra cash to reward themselves. As thatfancypone said themself, jobs are hard to come by, so any money made from commissions is a blessing. Hell, some artists even make drawing their job! If commissioners get some nice art that they enjoy out of the deal, who is anyone to judge?

But thatfancypone’s comments don’t stop there! Ohhhh no! Instead, they go on to say they don’t know why people are stupid enough to support lazy people [artists] who do nothing but just sit down drawing on a pad”.

Chuck Jones (animator/director for many classic Warner Brothers cartoons) once cited his former art teacher, stating “All of you here have one hundred thousand bad drawings in you. The sooner you get rid of them, the better it will be for everyone”. This statement holds true. Artists will spend hundreds of thousands of hours perfecting their craft, laboring trying to get their anatomy/colouring/shading/poses right. It’s not as simple as ‘sitting down one afternoon and scribbling what you feel like’. It’s a long and tedious process filled with many stresses and countless failures. If you’ve ever studied art (which I have on a high school, TAFE and university level), you’ll know that artists are not ‘lazy’. If artists didn’t receive any money for their hard work (and yes, it IS work) there would be much less art on Tumblr, Deviantart, Derpibooru etc. because artists would have almost no incentive to pour their heart, soul and time into a craft that no-one is willing to reimburse them for.

From my own personal experience, I’ve often spent 6+ hours on a $30 AUD commission. Do the math and you’ll realize that this equates to $5 AUD per hour. Much less that the Australian minimum wage. I’m not alone in this either. Many artists undercharge for the hours they put in. Just go look at Deviantart! People demand under a few dollars for more than an hour’s work. So go ahead, tell them they’re lazy because they don’t fit into your ideal of what a ‘job’ is.

Let’s not forget that many of the childhood cartoons you probably grew up with were produced by artists who were paid money. Cartoons from companies like Walt Disney, Warner Bros, Pixar and Cartoon Network wouldn’t exist if they hadn’t commissioned artists to concept, write, storyboard and animate for them. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic wouldn’t exist if Hasbro Studios hadn’t paid the artists for their time.

People like this need to be removed from the internet until they gain some knowledge and understanding. I’m so sick and tired of people like thatfancypone devaluing art. Art as a movement has been around since the dawn of humanity. It’s an integral part of our culture and brings us together. People have no right to undermine its importance or the importance of artists.

[Footnote: Just in-case thatfancypone deletes their comments, I’ve taken a screenshot of them here: https://31.media.tumblr.com/a902b1cd7d363a01d37c7c9802607da2/tumblr_nacdmrxhG71s2154po1_500.png ]

Someone needs to tell that guy that it’s not about getting a picture because you paid money, it’s about helping out someone who has talent, maybe even look up to them, and knowing that they will be slightly better off and continue drawing for their fans.
In the end, it’s just money for a picture, but that picture is important because if it weren’t for you, the picture never would have existed and it may or may not have been drawn by your senpai.

Really? Then why call it a commission? Why not call it “Gifts for donations”?

“Commission” implies it’s a professional contract (which most artists claim to be professional) between artist and client. Many, MANY artists fail to deliver on time, if at all.

Someone sounds salty. Also, Donation implys that you don’t expect something in return. No matter the commissions reason, you still expect a good/service

The reason many artists fail to deliver is that they take on too many commissions at once. Smart artists have it so there’s a certain number of slots so that they don’t get overwhelmed.

Fight your Fear with Five Shark Facts:

1: Approximately 3.17 sharks are killed by humans every second while only less than 6 humans are killed by sharks every year.

2: Sharks are relatively high in the food chain and keep populations of prey in check.

3: Sharks have roamed the ocean for almost 400 million years, even before the dinosaurs.

4: Your chances of encountering a Shark is very rare. You are more likely to get struck with lightning than to encounter a Shark.

5: Sharks are a slow growing species that don’t breed often. They are vulnerable to extinction.

Sharks have a bad rep above the ocean. Their creepy grins, appetite for meat and sharp teeth make it hard to appreciate them. While it may seem like they are out to get us, sharks are a magnificent species that need to be protected.

I yelled “Get down!” and then this happened…

Accurate

A completely theoretical list of requirements for being my romantic and/or sexual partner. Theoretical in that none of you dorks are good enough for me anyway.

lizzymodblog:

I am not a shallow woman. One thing you will need to have for me to be interested in you: eyeballs. At least 1. No more than 4. Though if you only have 1 then you need to be a pirate. And good looking. And not have scurvy.

Another thing. You need to be able to tell the difference between a nipple and a outie-bellybutton. Very important. This is a mistake that somehow happens a lot and it’s just a hassle when someone proclaims they have 3 nipples and then the secret government agents take them away again for a few weeks, all because of a simple misunderstanding.

Another requirement. A taste in music that either completely matches mine, or doesn’t exist at all. The details of my taste in music will be disclosed once I have pinned it down myself. For now, all I can say for sure is “good music.”

Finally, while I have nothing against the more weighty among us… moderation is nice. I usually prefer my partners to be smaller than me. With my length, standing at about 1.9 meters, this is not often difficult. Though width is another story. Basically, don’t be a whale. Also don’t be an elephant. Or a cow. Or any kind of animal. What do you think I am, a furry?

Wait, are you telling me that people really don’t know what a belly button is?

PLEASE STAY SAFE GUYS (x)

Ok one that would never fucking happen. A 12 hour period of no law and pure violence first no law in this country or other would even make that kind of law. Two I understand things are getting crazy but they will not be Purge crazy (( sense that movie is complete shit on how the human mind works )) Whats going on down there is awful. There is no words to even begin too feel of what going on. But I fucking say with a straight face there will never be a Purge or a 12 hour violence period at all. It not only stupid it down right makes no sense.

Yeah this would never happen. Like not for real.

The purge itself is a terrible movie.
I mean, it’s whole moral thing is like “HTe purge is bad. We emphasise this by saying it was succesful while fading to black on a standing shot of a family who lost so much”

But that’s a retarded moral because we already know that it would be bad and it’s never going to happen.
Ever.
The purge is never going to happen in a million years.

While I often seem to be associated with having a “no-nonsense personality,” from my point of view, I seem to engage in quite a lot of nonsense.

So either I don’t quite understand the meaning of the phrase due to my blissfully foreign upbringing, or everyone who has ever referred to me as having such a personality is a big fat liar.

They just mean you don’t get involved in OTHER people’s nonsense, only your own

Which means what, exactly.

You enjoy your own shenanigans but as soon as someone elses shenanigans effect you, you are like, “Oh fuck no. Liz out.”

Alicorns are supposed to be powerful thought. You can’t have someone be an alicorn and make them a waitress. They need to be incredibly powerful because the onlyt four we have seen can shape the earth itself.

They are supposed to be powerful. But that is just more of a reason to not make alicorn OCs
