One of the best tips for writing descriptions of pain is actually a snippet I remember from a story where a character is given a host of colored pencils and asked to draw an egg.
The character says that there’s no white pencil. But you don’t need a white pencil to draw a white egg. We already know the egg is white. What we need to draw is the luminance of the yellow lamp and the reflection of the blue cloth and the shadows and the shading.
We know a broken bone hurts. We know a knife wound hurts. We know grief hurts. Show us what else it does.
You don’t need to describe the character in pain. You need to describe how the pain affects the character - how they’re unable to move, how they’re sweating, how they’re cold, how their muscles ache and their fingers tremble and their eyes prickle.
Draw around the egg. Write around the pain. And we will all be able to see the finished product.

I think it’s very sweet that Perry the Platypus recognized that the poor dude is effectively platypus-face-blind (and possibly colour-blind as well), cannot tell if a random platypus is or is not Perry, and is never going to assume in case it is a different platypus because that would be RUDE - and therefore carefully puts on his hat every time, so Doofenshmirtz knows who he’s talking to.
That is some prime Politeness-Between-Nemeses right there.
To be fair, the tri state area apparently has a LOT of platypuses.
this implies that doof encounters enough regular platypus thwarting his plans that he doesnt want to assume theyre all perry.
To be honest, the only reason Taako follows Barry around in the unnamed AU is probably because Barry shared one small snack with the strange, quiet assistant of the director.
It’s sort of like feeding a stray cat. You feed it once and suddenly the next thing you know it’s following you everywhere.
He can’t say a single word but Barry can just tell by the subtle changes of his vacant expression that Taako likes to mooch treats when he can.
