if you’ve been trained to to dislike yourself for enjoying anything due to years of being told you’re annoying clap your hands 👏👏👏

if I listed out every particular instance that was met with negativity enough for me to stop feeling comfortable talking about it, this comic would be like 50 panels.

Okay so this is so important. Please don’t ignore this post if you think it doesn’t apply to you, because even if it doesn’t, it could be happening to someone you care about. And it may seem like nothing, it feels like it’s nothing for a while but after hearing people say just how boring or dumb something you love is… well, you start to believe it. Before you realise it you find yourself not finishing stories or sentences because there’s a voice in your head saying “shut up, no one cares” and just like that those things you used to love so much lose their spark. They no longer make you as happy as before, everything is tainted and you hate yourself for not fitting in, for not being as interesting as everyone else. Because if everyone says you aren’t then they must be right?
But no! It’s not true and you tell yourself that everytime, but it’s not enough. You have to learn to love the things you used to love again.

In my case, I’ve missed out on so many experiences because of this. I had given up trying to make people see the things I like aren’t a waste of time. But I’m slowly trying to claim them back.

So please, if someone you know ever tells you something about them or about what they like please listen to them. Even if you don’t really enjoy the thing they are telling you about, if they matter to you please listen. That simple action could mean the whole world to them.

this is kinda painful tbh

Also, speaking as an autistic dude rebloggin from another autistic dude, this treatment/feeling is so much a part of the autistic experience it ain’t even funny.

Which does say something about inbaked societal ableism that I can’t quite articulate…

I have to say I really appreciate how Into the Spider-Verse makes no effort whatsoever to give Dr. Octavius any kind of pathos. Superhero media so often goes out of its way to establish that the main villain’s female sidekick – should one be present – has Suffered Terribly and how it’s totally Not Her Fault that she’s ended up the way she is, or at least give her a humanising moment of empathy with the protagonist, but nope. She’s just a big amoral jerk and no one likes her.

What I’m saying is that Olivia Octavius is the kind of mad scientist who would unironically respond to a hero’s horrified “what in God’s name?” by exclaiming “God had nothing to do with it!”, and I respect that.

She’s someone who was shown early on to know that snatching people from other universes causes them to painfully disintegrate, but at no point does she bother to tell Fisk this. ‘Cause she has (unspoken within the movie) motives outside of Fisk wanting his family back.

So she’s totally down with Fisk seeing his family die in front of him again (and again, and again) as long as it fits with her own goals..

I NEVER EVEN THOUGHT OF THAT.

He essentially bankrolled her entire project to steal his family from some alternate universe and Liv, knowing damn well they’d eventually disintegrate in this universe, was like “Yep, I’ll do my best, thank so much for your contribution”

cold fucking blooded.

They better use this in a sequel cause IT’S SO GOOD AND INTERESTING

also they would be stealing fisks family from an alternate fisk so not only would she be screwing over her financial backer but she would also be screwing over the alternate version of him as well. she has no morals or ethics and wants to do science no matter the cost. Shes the best villain scientist since glados

I just watched The Blob for the first time and not to spoil it but cold is the only way to stop it so they ship it to the arctic. And these old B movies get a lot of flack for not actually being scary but the last line of the film was that the blob can’t be killed but at least it’s stopped “so long as the arctic stays frozen” and lemme tell you that is THE most terrifying line a viewer in 2018 could hear.

anyway i have a pitch for The Blob 2
