So I was looking at Biden’s plans to help people with disabilities. Here’s some stuff he wants to do that would make a big, measurable difference:
- Increasing SSI benefits to at least 100% of the Federal Poverty Line (at the moment, this would be an increase of about $3000/year. That would be REALLY HELPFUL.)
- Increase the asset limits for SSI and SSDI - which haven’t been increased in more than 35 years. Right now if you have more than $2000 at any time, you lose your benefits.
- Marriage equality for disabled people! - For people on SSI be able to get married without losing our benefits! (As it stands right now, you can lose your benefits even if they suspect you’re ACTING like you’re married - the “holding out as married” rule.)
I’m about out of spoons tonight, but go read it! If even SOME of it gets passed, it could be really good!
This is in contrast to the Republican position, which is *checks notes* “If they’re going to die, they’d better do it, and decrease the surplus population”.
(Seriously, if Trump gets re-elected, I, and many other disabled people, will be so entirely fucked. He wants to destroy Social Security, I would be homeless and starving in the streets.)

like, i’m pretty sure tiktok has existed for longer than vine did at this point but i’m yet to actually see an “iconic” tiktok. like people always caption like “this tiktok is ICONIC” but i’ve never seen one stay in the public consciousness for any longer than the 2 minutes it appears on my timeline. i never see people quote tiktoks or like, act them out with their friends or anything, not a single tiktok i’ve seen has had any actual staying power
meanwhile i can just say like “ROAD work ahead?” and i would bet a good chunk of you have just read that in the guy’s voice. i still see people tag things like “i wish i was jared, 19″. one night at the bar where i work we started an impromptu dance party purely by saying “hi, i’m renata bliss, and i’ll be your freestyle dance teacher”

I think that part of the reason vines were often so iconic was BECAUSE of the 6 second limitation. They HAD to make an impact in a short period whereas tiktok has much longer time so the funny part isnt instant or easily quotable
Capitalism is working as designed/ envisioned. It’s setup to make the rich ,richer and we’re “good” as long as we have an able body that, with our sweat, our work ,our suffering makes a profit/good return for them. Once our body is no longer productive, we’re discarded, just like junk,trashed and replaced by a new ,able and younger person to continue a vicious, never-ending cycle.

-be in college
-drive to cafe to do homework, stay for a while
-i can’t park at the university b/c parking passes are like 300 dollars, so i leave my car where it is and walk to a building on campus for a meeting. this is important.

-life as usual for a few days, I don’t need my car during the week so i don’t notice it’s not where it’s supposed to be
-Saturday. I pack up to drive to see my folks. Got all my stuff in a backpack and i’m ready to go
-oh shit it’s 2 miles away I left it at the cafe on Thursday
- “who stole my car” me. i did. i stole my own car. from myself
-basically jog back across campus to get there as fast as possible because it’s not like i left it in a rando parking lot for two days already and the 5 minutes i save by exhausting myself will totally make a difference
-holy shit i hope it’s still there
-it is. the god of forgetful assholes was smiling down on me because i don’t even have a parking ticket even though i’m right under a “no overnight parking” sign

this car had a 50/50 shot of actually turning over on any given day because it guzzled through batteries like some people guzzle la croix so by now i’m freaking out b/c i have no idea what to do if it doesn’t start
-god of faulty car batteries is smiling too
-i am halfway to driving to my parents when i realize i forgot my backpack at home
-somehow it takes five years before anyone suspects i have adhd
