Chapter Plot: In order to make it easier to take Suzie on adventures undetected, Coach and Suzie are looking for a girl who’s not quite what she seems. It may be more of a challenge than they thought.

good luggage goes in the fun bubble

When I was in college, my Stage Craft teacher showed us this.  Basically the machine heats up a sheet of plastic, and once it’s malleable enough it’ll be blown up to make room for whatever you want to imprint in the plastic.  Once it’s in place, the air reverses and the plastic vacuum-sucks all around the object.

He demonstrated it on a baby doll and it was like a baby had been frozen in carbonite.  I got to take it home and I still have frozen-carbonite-baby to this day (his name is Franklin XD)

conservative politics are built on the idea that people have to ‘earn’ the right not to suffer

….yeah? why y'all grown-ass adults don’t wanna work for your keep? children, sure, give them all what they need if their parents are struggling to support themselves AND a kid, but buddyYou don’t get to use the kaching cheat irl

Awesome that is not what this post says at all

Anybody at all: hey maybe life shouldn’t be built on a presupposition of suffering

Some joyless bastard, inevitably: oh, so you want to leech off society huh?1! Shall I invade your SAFE SPACE you immature sNOWfLaKE? Maybe if you weren’t granted handouts you wouldn’t need pArtiCipAtiON mEdaLs. Life is all about pain and by god I will be its conduit

“Life is about pain and by god I will be its conduit” is a raw ass quote if I saw one

sorry if this makes the post less punchy or whatever but I wanna add that while this is true, conservative politics are also built on the idea that one actually can’t earn the right to not suffer. Conservative politics are deeply hierarchical and against mobility even through hard work. For society to be ‘right’, everyone stays in their preordained place… but there is hope you’re really a lion born among lambs and could one day ‘rise to your true place.’ Which won’t happen but is a needed belief because otherwise the despair that “some people are just born to suffer” will overwhelm society.

like if you go to the history of conservative politics you see monarchism apology and stuff, switching the structure of hierarchies from being ordained by god and king, to being ordained by the market and economics. So when conservatives say “you better work for your keep” what they really mean is like, they have already decided what your keep will be.

So when you say “life is all about pain and by god I will be its conduit” you’re right. Prescribing the ‘right’ amount of pain for different people to keep them in their place is what it’s all about. You can ‘earn’ the reward for staying in your place, but that reward is only the “right not to suffer”– where you are on the hierarchy will still determine if that right is violated.

“less punchy” no reading this made me experience raw and utter terror actually
