ok but if bruce wayne somehow came upon zuko fresh out of banishment he would lose his mind.

black hair? check. bad parent(s)? check. trauma? double check.

bruce: how’d you get your scar?

zuko: my dad got mad at me for saying that killing people is wrong so he lit my face on fire and banished me.

bruce, vibrating with excitement, already pulling adoption papers from his utilility: that’s terrible. how do you feel about capes.

Zuko: Do you mind if I wear this blue demon mask?

Bruce: *sniff, tear in his eye* Not at all.

*Zuko fighting the Joker*

J: “wan na kno w h ow i go t thes e sc ar s”

Z: *rips off mask* i don’t give a fuck

I’m still stuck at the “batman has adoption papers in his utility belt”.

“Quick, it’s time to use the Bat-adoption papers!”

Bat-option papers

Okay, but you’re missing the best part of this.

Alfred and Iroh complimenting each other on tea while they discuss their overly dramatic children.

iroh: once, i told zuko that he needs to work on his inter turmoil. he screamed at me that he had no such inner turmoil, and then proceeded to go to a cliff during a thunderstorm to scream at God to strike him with lightning

alfred: master bruce and i have that interaction at least three times per week.

@absentlyabbie

I see your “Alfred and Iroh as tea bros” and raise you “Alfred and Iroh as tea rivals

Consider

Iroh: you too must learn patience. Boiling the water ruins the delicate flavor of the white jade

Alfred: oh I’m dreadfully sorry - for some reason I expected this tea to have TEA in it

(later)

Alfred: *aggressively laying out full tea service with milk, lemon, sugar, and, just to drive his point in, jam*

Iroh: *dying inside*

excellent addition

hey bruce spent a lot of his bat-study abroad in the far east and has kind of a weeb weapon collection so proposal, what if Bruce appreciates Iroh’s tea

while Zuko is enthusiastic about cream and sugar

further fueling their dad-figures’ passive-aggressive rivalry?

You had me at Zuko vs. Joker, I was crying by the Eastern vs. Western tea service

Wait a minute. Batman and Zuko have the same arch-nemesis.

hamlet is about everything if you try hard enough

I hate that this is an accurate representation of what studying Shakespeare in a scholarly capacity and reading tons of academic books and articles is like.

?????? Would this happen? I mean, he sweats nitroglycerin, right? One little spark and BOOM!

I’m just being silly, don’t mind me.

Fullmetal Alchemist, vol. 12 by Hiromu Arakawa

Hiromu Arakawa’s work with expressions is so great and sometimes the anime didn’t fully capture that

Like how the panels are framed, with Winry’s left eye vs Scar’s right, how Winry’s in darkness and Scar’s in the light, the uncomfortable closeup on both of them.

Like Winry in this panel is FURIOUS. Just the shadowing on her face makes the difference. The shadow under her eyes gives a sense of strain. The shadowing on her face makes her look a little intimidating, ominous. It is beyond anything we’ve ever seen before. As the tears dribble off her face, she also breaks out in a cold sweat, but her teeth are gritted in rage.

She’s terrifying in her anger. This is a girl who’s sad and scared but also angrier than she’s ever been in her life, angry enough to pick up a gun and consider doing something that would be the antithesis of everything she stands for. Because she wants her parents back, and she’s not going to get it, and goddammit that hurts so much she’s practically transported in her rage at the person who took them.

Meanwhile, Scar. He’s still an imposing figure made of sharp lines. There’s some anger there as there always is, and  shadow. But while everything’s coming to the surface for Winry. it’s almost like he’s restraining himself, bracing himself for what might come. Ready to accept it because he believes there’s no return for him, and it could only ever end with his death.

That second-to-last paragraph is particularly interesting here, because it describes Scar as well. He was also tempted by the antithesis of what he stands for because he’s sad and angry and will never have his family back, and because the means to take revenge was right there. Unlike Winry, he didn’t stop in time.

True! That really is what makes the conflict between them so interesting. They were tempted by the same thing.

Really, it was that Winry still had family left, I think. She still has her home.  She wasn’t persecuted either, like the Ishvalans were being persecuted, and had the means to continue her life. That’s why she was able to stop.

And Winry still had people left to help her when she was at her lowest point. Scar didn’t have anyone with him until his Master came back into his life, until May came along and took it upon herself to help him. And look what an effect those people had on him.

I’m going through my scar tag and i saw this and was like “wow this was good meta from this person” then i saw i had written it so i guess i just…complimented myself.

anyway here’s a bonus where Scar thinks back to that exact moment:

image

Winrys expression, her rage and pain, is so powerful and full of wrath here it actually disturbs Scar and makes him realize for the first time how truly frightening the hatred he feels is, how it looks to others. Even if Winry lacks his physical skills or stature, the power of that feeling in her makes her just as intimidating, just as scary, in that moment. In that moment, she lost everything else about herself and became nothing but her grief and her desire to hurt the cause of it. And it makes Scar realize how much he himself has changed, how completely that has consumed him.

speaking of eyes i think there was a moment in flashbacks to the ishvala extermination where roy, riza and hughes are said to have the eyes of a killer or something.

This is only the beginning. I find it hilarious the amount of people comparing The Mcelroys with these chaos children and I love it. It’s not a lot of people, but it’s more than you’d expect. Thanks tumblr.

I got the joke from @wakkoswish here on tumblr, go check em out!

So what if… Yue being a new Moon spirit… blessed Sokka with waterbending, just because she likes him and he would be even more chaotic with bending? What if???

I maybe Yue secretly helps Sokka every time hes about to die or do something stupid.

hey toby explain if the spiders are monsters. explain if the snails are monsters because some DO seem to be monsters. we know some are absorbed by asriel, they have to be monsters unless you’re implying animal snails have souls that got absorbed? no? i didn’t think so. at least some are monsters right? what is going on there. what is happening. is muffet a cannibal. are the snails monsters. is it cannibalism if toriel eats monster snails or is this a animal hierarchy situation like how fish eat smaller fish. these questions haunt me i hate this

i think what constitutes whether or not a creature is a monster is whether or not they have physical matter vs magic. monsters are made up entirely of magic which is why they turn to dust when killed. we know from flowey that the dust can leave an imprint on things. i propose this.
the snails and spiders ARE real snails and spiders, but theyve been given some small level of awareness due to magic but they are not monsters as they are composed of physical matter.
