And people wonder why humans are so fucking weird and have odd experiences that aren’t actually real. I mean, if a bowl of tapioca pudding managed to hallucinate so vividly it invented calculus, it also going “dude, i heard a weird noise and i’m 100% sure it was the ghost of the neighbor’s cat which hasn’t actually died yet” would be just as expected as anything else.
You don’t. The trick is to take advantage of the fact that you, the author, exist outside the time constraints of the story.
Have your smarty-pants solve in one day a problem that took you all month. Have them learn in two months what took you two years. Have them know things offhand that you had to look up. Have them fire off snappy comebacks that took you a week to think of.
No need to pretend to knowledge you don’t have or give them nonsense Moffat brain magic.
All the logic is there. It’s just more impressive.

I love wool. A few years ago, I started switching out all my socks and boxers for wool, and I will never go back to any other fabric or fiber.
Sheep are amazing. Thank you for the gift of your wonderful wool, you magnificent sheeps.
Unlike other fibers wool can stay warm even when it’s soaking wet, making it amazing for us in cold climates too.
