Retrofuturism AU where technology advanced a few decades earlier than it did in real life and the 80s ended up being the equivalent of modern day. Everything else is the same. Same fashion, music, and design/aesthetic trends, same movies came out, same politicians gained and lost power, same wars were fought, same social movements occurred etc… Except the internet (as we know it today) and smartphones existed.
