For example I’ll be telling people that maddy is short for mad max: fury road. my friend dexter has to start telling people that it’s short for dexterous. If your name is AJ you have to tell people that your full name is animal jam. if your name is Jack you had better say that it’s short for canis adustus, the African side-striped ‘jack'al. The name meg is short for mega man or megalomaniac
A Pythagorean cup looks like a normal drinking cup, except that the bowl has a central column in it. It was supposedly invented by Pythagoras of Samos (yes, that one). It allows the user to fill the cup with wine up to a certain level. If the user fills only to that level, the imbiber may enjoy a drink in peace. If, however, the user gets greedy, the cup dumps all the wine into the unfortunate victim’s lap.

An absolutely CRITICAL part of mermaid social etiquette is to ALWAYS swim around head height with other mermaids. This prevents both mermaids from harming each other via their tails, fins, and other appendages.
This etiquette is also intended to symbolize equality – regardless of whether you’re a coastal mermaid, a small freshwater mermaid, or a 50ft tall deep sea mermaid, everybody is deserving of equal stature.
