This is a gross misrepresentation of Kankri’s character. First off, what I assume is a Hemo-equality flag’s lime sprite is replaced with white which makes no sense. Kankris has no reason to exclude limebloods from the equality flag and because this is seemingly Beforus there is no reason limes would be extinct.
Second is what appears to be a flag denoting support for The Empress’s Reign, which again, is very unlike Kankri to do. Fef is the absolute monarch that enforces a hierarchy of blood castes, peaceful yes, but still hierarchical. I should note that the flag appears to be playing off of the flag of Ingsoc from 1984 however, which could mean the flag is saying Feferi’s rule is 1984 (or some Beforian analogy).
Any now that the criticisms of this image are out of the way I’ll mention something I really like. I love that the troll romance colors are the the chevron of the flag, that is assuming they represent non-standard relationships, which if they do is a really good addition. Also gun Kankri is best Kankri.
concerning both of your critiques:
1. the stripe is not white, its grey. its actually the exact shade of grey kankris skin is, an inversion of the saying “we all bleed the same color”, now becoming some vague empty platitude about how bloodtype doesnt matter since all trolls sre grey. it not supposed to replace limebloods, its supposed to be representing nontraditional hemotypes, such as bright red. kankri mentions lime has “hist9rically 6een used as an especially vici9us epithet,” implying a frought history we will never be privvy to. while “yellow-greens” may not actually be extinct on beforus, they may still be subject to a level of prejudice/ostracization that places them in a unique category along with cheery red and other abnormal hemotypes. this is just my interpretation of an incredibly cloudy history.
2. that flag isnt about supporting the empire, its about solidarity among warm and cool hued trolls and equal share of political power. i probably Could have found a better way to denote the difference between the two hands but i wanted to keep the design simple, as its specifically riffing on the democratic socialist party flag. that isn’t a subtle dig at them or anything and more about kankri randomly co-opting the politics of something he barely understands so he can feel better about himself
Your points have been hence forth understood, and frankly some of my assumptions came completely out of left field and for that I should apologize and take not for the future. However, it could be debated weather or not if yellow-greens possible decreased numbers due to violent discriminatory action against them warrants them as part of the same category of non-standard genetic hues. But at that point it would likely be minor nitpicking. Even then, bright red still appears of this flag (;
Furthermore, about the equal share flag, I would not sweat the resemblance to the flag of Ingsoc as The Handshake is such a distinct symbol but if ones more familiar with the Demsoc flag they’ll probably recognize that first. However, I must say that the bright red color combined with the trident definitely doesn’t strike me as “Power” in the sense it can be shared among warm and cool castes, but rather a specific symbol of power associated with the nautical theming of the current ruling caste.
Oh also I didn’t mention it before but I really like this image. I think I might’ve come on too strong with the first post.
This came as a result of Light Novel publishers believing that people don’t read the blurbs on the back of the books. So their answer to this was to…. make the blurb the title.
Despite this, however, Light novels with overly long titles have very rarely topped in the best sellers, as the books that sell still tend to sell the best are ones with more traditional short titles.
So of course this trend has no bled over into manga as well because if something bullshit insane marketing scheme is proven to have no real effect other than to confuse and frustrate its consumer you gotta spread that shit to EVERYTHING.
