Ok so Dirk has a self insert before he has an official self insert and it’s acorn, acorn is supposed to represent his duel cynicism/love for his friends, his THREE FRIENDS, represented by the THREE pony pals and so Dirk is both the protagonist (acorn) and the antagonist (Dirk) and the trip through the underworld represnts the metaphorical maturation of his friends as the achieve godhood and THEN THE NARRATIVE (WHICH IS CONTROLLED BY DIRK) MAKES IT SO HE CANNOT LET HIS FRIENDS HAVE A HAPPY ENDING WITHOUT HIS DEMISE HE HAS TO KILL DIRK HE HAS TO KILL ACORN DIRK WORKS AS A FUCKING PHARMAKON HE IS THE REMEDY(ACORN) POISON(DIRK) AND SCAPEGOAT(THE NARRATIVE ITSELF) AND THIS FUCKING PERFECTLY MIRRORS HOW DIRK FELT HE HAD TO REMOVE HIMSELF IN BOTH THE CANDY AND MEAT TIMELINE IN ORDER TO GIVE HIS FRIENDS ANY HAPPY ENDING AND IT LITERALLY ALWAYS COMES BACK TO DIRK FUCKING STRIDER ITS ALWAYS HIM
