I have come to the realization that Charlie (Dog) is somewhat cat-like in that he exclusively lets himself be pet on his terms. It’s a little hard to notice at first becuase in general he is very snuggly, but if it’s too hot, or he feels too crowded or he’s tired or he doesn’t like the person in question, he will politely get up and go somewhere out of reach until he wants to rejoin the group again. He’s very quiet about this, but he’s very firm on his boundaries and won’t be pet once more than he wants to be.
Meanwhile, Mochi (cat) will fling himself into anyone’s lap and roll over for bellyrubs and allow himself to be pet to the point of overexcitement and he is forced to wildly kick his feet until he manages to roll over, then rocket about the house with joy for a good half hour, a behavior I haven’t seen outside of golden retrivers before.

Doorbell rings: Charlie: Might not actually wake up from his spot on the couch Mochi: Barreling to the door at top speed, yelling, staring at whoever it is through the window
Fetch: Charlie: Will not reliably chase after thrown objects, usually sits down and chews on them if he does. Mochi: Will play fetch with Q-tips until he’s panting.
Grace: Charlie: Stretches elegantly, very flexible and can walk on narrow rails when needed Mochi: Regularly falls off the couch from napping too hard.
Water: Charlie: Will only go into a body of water up to his ankles, maybe up to his elbows if it’s REALLY hot out. Terrified of the hose and sprinklers. Mochi: Will sit up on his hind feet and beg to be shot in the face with the squirt bottlle, climbed into then sat down in sink full of cold water once in february.
my favorite trope is the thing star trek does where when a character lists something and they’ll list real things/people but add 1 thats fictional, like “great writers such as shakespeare, robert frost, edgar allan poe and zaxar the giant rat man“
Idk anything about Star Trek and this trope is absolutely hilarious but I’m also a big fan of the opposite of this trope, where the character is listing things that aren’t real but they’ll add 1 thing that’s real at the end
rick and morty is good actually but no one is allowed to say that because idiot dudebros ruined it for everyone
rick and morty had an episode that combined a political drama, an allegory for tensions between cops and racial minorities, a parody of the film stand by me, and a discussion of class uprising and actually made sense and tied into an earlier narrative but we can’t enjoy that because some entitled assholes took a joke too seriously and acted like jerks at mcdonalds
