I just noticed that gamecube controller says dolphin on it. Theres a gamecube emulator called dolphin and thats such a specific joke i love it.
I don’t mean to one-up but it’s more likely a reference to the fact that “Project Dolphin” was the Gamecube’s public code name while it was in development. This is also what the Dolphin emulator was named after.
Project dolphin was alluded to in mario sunshine with the world map being an island shaped like a dolphin and being called dolphin island
