dirk lalonde is…coddled, for lack of better terms. he gets a lot of stuff just handed to him without question, which is cool, but also kind of horrific in retrospect.
because mom is a fucking mess, she doesn’t question it when dirk starts building increasingly complex robots. like oh there’s a robobutler now? and he’s a horse? good work dirky boy now fetch momma another martini
across the country roxy strider is being raised by a grown up bro which is paradox hell but relevant at some point probably
eventually dirk creates a perfect robot build. it even looks human! it’s great! and when the game starts, he’s super excited to make it start up by absorbing a soul of like, a carapace or something
dirk and mom lalonde aren’t related but they do share the common trait of being great at academia and absolutely shit at actually bringing a lot of stuff to fruition, like common sense
read mom doesn’t even make it out of the house before tripping over an extension cord or something equally stupid and snapping her neck on the way downstairs, and ofc dirks stupid robot is powering on at that very moment, and dirk accidentally gets this super powerful kid sized robot that’s also possessed by the soul of his now deceased mother
there’s more probably but ultimately dirk being a lalonde can only result in like, crack shit that somehow just happens. it’s totally questioned by his friends but also sort of…ignored. because who really wants to believe that robot with no voice is his mom? haha. nope.
so with all this do you think that dirk lalonde would wind up being a better or worse person than canon dirk?

This is cathartic
People just becoming politically aware are never going to appreciate just how fucking hated this guy was before he was in politics. He was hated for over half a century. Everyone aware of him mocked and derided him as a cheating, greedy corporate asshole and mindless bully and this is by far not the only time anyone clocked his ass but it is probably one of the only times it got caught on video.
Hatred of him was bipartisan all my life and it just goes to show how easily right wingers can be suckered by anyone who kisses their collective asshole on their pet agendas.
Never forget that the reason Trump seems like an over-the-top stupidly villainous antagonist from a 90s movie is because half of them were based on Trump and making fun of him.
The reason The Simpsons and a handful of other comedies ‘predicted’ the Trump presidency was because he kept saying he wanted to run and nobody could think of anything funnier than a President Trump.
i think they’re interesting antagonists, a ‘family’ of sorts. kind of like…mother/sisters to pink. we know that they’re all formed from white, or are of white (cough father and the homunculi cough) but they also are their own separate entities. did white create blue and yellow to just expand the colonies? to create more gems, out of some weird need to continually expand her progeny? gems don’t die unless they’re shattered, and i don’t think white would create heirs for a throne she never intended on leaving.
but pink is a whole other case–it’s never explicitly stated that was was off color, so i don’t think we have a reason to believe that she was a defect. we know that she was the youngest of the diamonds, and that she was treated as a child, kind of disregarding the otherwise necessary “gems are created fully formed and fully aware of what they’re doing” mentality. but gems don’t like, grow, right? that’s not a thing.
so was pink diamond created as some kind of inside joke? was her existence just there as a reminder for the others of what not to be? sure she was adored, but she wasn’t respected. even if she was symbolically a child, she still was a person, trapped and confined, unable to grow and learn and express herself. and she had no other way to do that besides completely disappear.
i thought the diamonds were the personifications of whites percieved flaws of herself. Her sentimentality in blue, her arrogant stubborn nature in yellow and her childish nature in pink. Obviously she failed since she still displayed these traits but lied to herself about it trying to twist what was left as perfection.
