this morning NASA abandoned their mars rover Opportunity (aka Oppy) because it (she) got hit by a storm on Mars and it knocked her camera and wheels out and her last words to the team were “my battery is low and it is getting cold”. I know she’s a machine but I’m devastated. Oppy is the one who discovered water on Mars. RIP oppy ily space baby

Fun DM tip: always do that. Even if it really is empty or nothing will happen. Really helps curb meta gamming and can get some funny reactions. My favorite is asking how they open the door or asking “so you just stand in front of it and open it normally” then suddenly they’re trying to describe a totally abnormal way of opening a door that doesnt involve them being in front of it

one time my players spent like an hour trying to figure out how to open an unlocked door because they kept pushing instead of pulling.
seriously though, in 2020 you need to swallow your fucking pride and vote for the primary democrat even if you dont agree with them. any other vote is only going to increase the chances of another republican taking office. if you didnt learn anything from the last election, then i guess hindsight isnt actually 2020

my priority is putting out the fire. then we can focus on rebuilding. the republicans are by far the biggest threat to democracy and they need to be voted out of office before we vote the democrats out of office in favour for independent parties.. voting independant will only split the votes and result in more republican terms.

Because you’re assuming that your message resonates with the voting populace, previous experience and current observation show that it doesn’t, additionally if your plan is to get a Dem in now and then spend 4-8 years shredding them to push independent parties/candidates but the Republicans remain a solid coherent group then…all you’re doing is delaying them.

Armchair psyche: liberals don’t react to authoritarian orders to vote X way like conservatives, they don’t have the same obedience to hierarchy and a different strategy is needed…like fielding an appealing candidate who inspires them to vote, who earns the privilege.
